I used a 15 cfm vacuum pump and a 12"h.g. cut out valve.

For batting I used some wall insulation with the cover removed and an old beach towel lol.

Personally I think a regular household vacuum cleaner would work fine. That's what we always used at the shop (it was actually a Torrit dust collection system) but created the same pressure at a shop vac.

Ok guys, I admit I screwed up. Part of one of the stringers let go so I am going to go backwards a little, I am going to buy some kiln dried Douglas fir and do it right. Jake I was listening to you and Wes just let some others outside this group talk me into the wrong thing. Won't do that again lol. Hopefully I will get the wood tomorrow and be able to set them before I leave for vacation on Monday.

I don't mind the hiccups, it's when they drop trou and take a dump all over you and barf down your neck that I don't care for...
You will be better off....

I can get clear kiln dried Doug Fir here, but it has to be ordered in special and typically takes a week or so.

Thanks for all the encouraging words, there is a lumber yard not far from the house that sells kiln dried Douglas fir. I will either get it tomorrow if the weather allows it or I will go get it after I get back from my vacation. Thanks for all the help everyone, and I can't wait to be out there having a couple of coldies with everyone🍻

Well the vacation fell through but that means more time to get this boat done. Well I started my backwards motion and got the stringers back out and started sanding. Hoping tomorrow I will go down and get my kiln dried Douglas fir. Just a little more sanding and its will be ready to put the right stringers back in.

Well got the boat all sanded back out. Will get all the dust out of it tomorrow. Went and bought the right wood for the stringers kiln dried Douglas fir clear. Wow buying wood that cost that much was a little bit of a shocker but it's bought and ready to go in. Also I have a question, what is the best way to get the remaining gasket off of the jet intake?

Well the stringers will be set tomorrow. Didn't get to do anything to the boat today but my wife did make me a scoop cover and header covers for me. She made me cut all the stuff out and get it all ready but she sewed it all by what I had for her. So it's not the best quality but it was the first time I had designed something like this. Lol they will work for now. The header covers were easy the scoop was another story lol

Well here are a few pictures of my progress today, I got the stringers cut and ready also cut some supports to hold the stringers in place. Tomorrow they will be set. And then I will be back to where I was last week but now I have the right stuff, clear kiln dried Douglas fir. Lol
