Delivered the Roger's today. They will start to prep it for new gel next week.

Picked up some eye candy from the powder coaters today. The boat is probably 2 weeks out. Called today they are sanding the bottom, which means they should be spraying the gel next week. Motor went to the machine shop yesterday. The trailer has new bunks, drilled for new running lights, welded in old holes, need to break out the plasma cutter this weekend and cut out for new tail lights. I love this stuff.

That will look bad azz

All the silver parts are powder chrome, not as nice as polished, but i'm tired of maintaining that stuff. I just want to wipe it off and walk away. The other parts are light orange sparkle, has a little gold flake in it. The boat will be off white base and tangelo with gold pearl trim.

This is gonna be really nice.  Keep the stuff coming. If you havent settled on the white yet, I would highly recommend Pure White by SPI. This stuff is fry your eyes white and I'm thrilled with how it looks outside.

Another circle racer perhaps???

The people I know seem to think the Roger's hulls were the best suited for high speed circle racing... So you're off to a good start based on that alone.

First and foremost I'm restoring it with the 70's theme. Second I would love to go racing. Will see how things work out.

i cant wait to see it.....i love boats that have been restored to their era...rather then have splashes of modern styles to them. The long term ideal outlook for the raspberry would be the same as you're doing.

I've got a scoop like the Liberty's had, all new stewart warner gauges(no bezels), cal custom finned valve covers, and an almost new foam steering wheel. I'm sure I'll end up with a couple of modern touches like new style carpet but for the most part it will look like a cool old boat. I hope you have as much fun with the Raspberry as I am with this one, it's been like therapy for me when I get to work on it.

Don't know what kind of scoops the Libertys ran but you need to scrounge up one like on this boat, a standard on all Rogers race boats back in the 70s and designed by Roger himself. I put my old one on my dads boat and it was on it when I sold the boat after he died. Sure wish I'd kept the scoop now. 

I should call the guy that bought it, he re-did the interior and sold the boat the boat, maybe he still has it?

I'd run that just to keep everything period correct, maybe we could talk to Roger about it . I'm running a tunnel ram with duel quads so it would be the streched verson. This only pic of the scoop that I have and it shows it in the background to the right of the wood pile.

Well if you want to stick to the 70s Rogers theme, you'll need the aluminum one, and yep, they came in the longer version for dual quads.

That glass one on the liberty, many guys built them, but one of the main suppliers was Harry Christiansen, the owner of Advantage. Before he got in the boat building biz, he had his "Fiberglass Concepts" business and he did fiberglass repair, had molds for as ungodly amount of scoops, transom adaptors, vegetable display tables for stores, water dispenser housings...you name it, he built it out of glass.
When I went to work for Harry to be the GM on the boat building side of things, his right hand guy, Lyle ( I can't remember his last name) ran the glass dept across the street. And HIS father in law was Bob "Doobie" Burns that owns Cheetah boats. It's kinda like a 6 degrees of seperation thing. lol

I'll go by the guy that bought my dads boat shop to see if he still had the scoop. If nothing else we can use it as a pattern for your boat if he still has it....finger crossed. 

Like this one, that I still have. I'm willing to loan it to a responsible party for copying purposes if there's interest.    I'd love to have a copy and an original.

Hey Rod, are you sure its not for sale.                                                        Old rigger, ordered my Advantage in Dec. 88, took delivery Feb. 89. Here's what it looks like now, after Salivador regelled it in 05. Ill have to dig up some pics of the original gel that Pringle shot.
