Scuff the trailer with a 3M pad and spray a couple of coats of the color you want and then seal it with clear.

Did you ever get the torque spec for the pump?

Tom said to snug them up good, so I torque them to 15lbs. Here are a couple pics of the rail kit and the pump installed. That would be the pump rebuilt by the professionals at JBP, including new shaft, inducer, and detailing the SS impeller.

How's this for simplicity. Old school dash with SW gauges and a Jones tach. Steering is hooked up but the gauges are just set in place. Are those tach drive cables hard to find? It took parts from 3 steering setups to make 1 good one, I used the old Mercury Marine rack set up that came on these boat back in the day. Steering extention hub from one, cable from another and the black base from the third, and 3 hrs later its done. Sometimes this old stuff is a pain in the butt to work with.

I'm looking at setting the tanks back about 10" and if I do that i'll need to run the fuel fill line with a couple of 90's in it or find some tanks with the fill closer to the ends.

The gauges are definitely on the money. As for the trailer and boat being off in color. I think it looks good based on the pictures.

Thanks, I've had a blast this last week since the boat has been back from the painters. I left work early 3 days this last week just to mess with it.
As for the adjustable ride plate, it came with it so I thought I would put it back on. Seams to be a one off prototype, maybe someday, someone will recognize it and give me the story behind it.
I'm starting to get use to the color of the trailer, but my son and nephew say it's got to be redone.

talk to jim brock...he has/had one in his shop...dont know if its the same design, but same concept. he seems to know a lot of history on odd ball parts from back in the day.

Thanks to Luckie Stiff and Jim Brock. With a little reshaping and modifying I've got a race legal fin. Some people use those fancy mills, but a table saw works just fine.

Does it have make contact with the water? As I understand it the only thing that matters is that it is 16 sq. inches.

16 sq inches...and 4 inches below the lowest point.

I did pick up some dry stacks today from Neil at SDPM. There old Hookers, but never used, just need a little cleaning. Friday my son and I drove to Bend Oregon ( 960 mi. and 16 hrs). Saturday installed a kitchen for my inlaws (12 hrs.), and sunday drove home. So no progress on the boat and even worse than that, couldn't go to the Parker races

As long as you owe me that $ I figure that I own a pretty fair share of a Spectra. That means I have 2 boats that run. Did you tell your dad that you bought a boat yet? Haven't done much lately, but I did talk to Roger Weiman today. What a cool guy and very helpful. He also confirmed that you can buy a brand new 19' Bonneville bare hull, like old rigger was talking about. He knows the guy building these and says its a good boat and very light, 400 lbs, made in Mexicali. Roger said he advised them on how they could improve the bottom and they did. He also said his 20' Bonneville Classic is faster than the 19'. The strakes are bigger and the bottom is faster. So cool to talk to a jet boat legend and he spent an hour on the phone with me. Made my day.
