I have a 69' 18 ft rogers jetboat ...
This is my first boat that I owned by myself.. im 25.. real mechanically inclined and knowledgeable .. boat has a 455 olds in it with holley carb but don't know what size.. also have extra holley carb that will prolly sell to fund other things for the boat...berkely jet .. no interior or floor... im planning on putting a floor in etc and building my seats etc... have original guages in it still... any help in what I should tackle first and tips on doing so ... or what I should change .. stringers are solid/great condition.. no chips. Or cracks anywhere on the hull.. gelcoat could u maybe be buffed out for the time being just to get it in the water ... eventually ..Paint it ...main thing I wanna complete it asap and take it out ... any help is appreciated guys... thanks ....

Here's what I have on my phone... thanks..... I also have access to a bbc 454 .. runs excellent ...real low miles.... came out of a truck ... can pick it up for 200 bucks cuz my buddy really needs the money ... how hard is it to swap that in and what all would need to be done or changed .... thanks again

For $200 pick up the 454 (depending on year) and set it aside until later (you'll want to change out the Olds soon enough). ;)
Right now you want to disassemble and clean everything. Inspect & repair wiring, replace flooring and build the interior. Freshen up the carb, replace cables (if needed) and make sure the fuel tanks are clean. Reassemble and run it a few times before tackling the paint.
All that work could be 2 weeks or 6 months depending on how serious you are about getting it done.

you are going to need motor mounts for a BBC first and foremost also you will need to get a pto for a chevy and if it were me I would get a new driveline while I was at it also.

@glasscutter.. no not me.... im in orange county .... I don't know to much about different hulls... just hope I have a reputable hull to build..... is there different model rogers? If so how do i figure out what I have? Thanks...

Do I put plywood Over the stringers or what? ?? Not sure if I have 1/4 1/2 or 3/4 stringers either ..... seems like when I put a floor in im gunna sit way up out of the boat after seats are installed??? Any input??? Thanks guys

from the pix it looks like you have a 3/4 stringer boat. if you put plywood over the whole stringer it pretty much cuts your depth down. i'd just grab a set of bucket seats and then you can make some angled seat brackets, bolt them to the stringers. rogers are very well built! congrats and welcome to the madness!

Wow I'm really surprised that Roger built a boat without full stringers but looking at your pix, well there you go (yours look like 3/4). If you are dead set on putting a floor in it most floors are between the stringers set down at the bottom of the stringers to flush out the center keel. I would leave it alone. A flat floor can be nice for the family but knowing what's going on with your hull by not covering it all up would make me feel more comfortable. What you have, given the date of it's mfg., is a Rogers Cyclone. It's a fast boat but be aware of it's high speed handling. The deep bow has a tendency to grab in a turn and punch out the occupants. Realize I'm talking about the days when we raced it. Keeping your HP down and driving it always as if the family is with you, you will be fine. You may want to have an expert check it out to make sure it doesn't have a hook in the bottom. Old boats can develop one if not fitted to the trailer properly. If you do have a hook a good boat shop (like B&K Boat Repair, Bellflower) can get it fixed if you don't feel like getting to know fiberglass. There is a great thread on the site which talks of the Resurrection of the Rootin Tootin Raspberry, a Rogers cyclone that we raced in the mid 70's. check it out. Have fun and be safe

What's the deal here! I see you are selling the boat in the classified section. I hope we didn't scare you off. Rogers is a great boat and the early Cyclones are true classics. Hang in there find some friends here on the site and get a crew to help you fix her up. You won't regret it.

No not selling it... some stuff came up and thought i was gunna have to sell it.... but got it all handled and now time to go full throttle into getting it water worthy and get it on the water Sooooo! !! Just need to finish up the interior. Ans more than likely just go without. Putting a solid floor in and just going the the route like stated above... I am thinking of doing a bench seat im the rear.. would that work without a full floor as well..??? Not looking to go crazy fast .. just something that has some power and can have a little fun in with a couple friends ... anyways any clue if a bench is doable in the rear with 2 buckets. Up front. With no floor and hull exposed.?? Maybe just coat it with something good.... thanks again guys ...

ANYTHING is possible. theres bucket benches available as well for the rear. or you can have a full interior built. interior is not cheap btw. keep your eyes peeled for people selling theirs.

Ya have been trying to find some used interior ... but don't know where to look and does it have to be exactly for my make and model or what? ?

A bench will work fine. mounting the front buckets and a bench is the same, two pieces of aluminum 3x3 0r 4x4 1/4" angle through bolted to each stringer then the seats are bolted to the angles. Use 3/8" SS bolts I would back them up with stringer washers SS ny-locks.
