Title: 1969 Howard Flatty
Post by: Rogers Hopeful on August 30, 2011, 01:05:11 PM: my dads howard that he sold 14 years ago is back up for sale for $2500. is this a good price? I am looking to buy it. The seats are starting to crack as well is the paint. What would be a good price to ask?

Guy said he rebuilt motor 13 years ago never ran it and its been sitting under a tarp since

Post by: ka0tyk on August 30, 2011, 01:58:22 PM: id try and lowball as the upholstery is the killer here. theres a lot of stuff missing and the engine looks a little too shiney compared to the rest of the boat... did they JUST drop it in there and bolt it up? glass or alum tanks? you're gonna have to rip the whole thing apart and do a LOT of cleaning and replacing. status of registration?

He actually has the exhaust and all of the rigging is there. I have an upholstery guy where i could get it re-wrapped at a decent price. he rebuilt the motor and recently put the Stainless lines on it. I am guessing it hasnt been registered since we had it. glass tanks i believe. my biggest problem is gonna be offering the guy $2000 for a boat and not hearing the motor run.

exactly. gas tanks, upholstery, unknown engine, and paint/gel. the most expensive things... plus all the little odds and ends that will need to be replaced to get it running and cleaned up...

i thank god that my dads old daycruiser the guy wants $30k for it so i dont buy it back.

x2, my daily driver is a 30+ year old chevy crew cab because it was my dads...
