Title: 1971 Avenger
Post by: badlx on November 08, 2015, 07:07:44 PM
So, after owning lots of boats, i scooped up my first jet. I get bored with nothing to work on, so i figured it would be a fun project to keep me busy, and..... Its a jet boat. Hopefully i can have some fun, kill some time, drink some beer.

Here are some pics from when i found it.

Cleaned the tanks, fresh gas, rebuild the carb, rebuild the distributor, basic maintenance.

And it ran.

So, cleaned it up, all new cables, fixed a few more little things. And kept moving.

Decided that it needed carpet, so i pulled out the mess that was in there. Yuck. Found some cracks in the filler area of the floor, broke it out, and reglassed it up. Also filled all the screw holes in the floor.

Bought some carpet and glue.

Completely mis cut the carpet the first time, used it as a template for the carpet i had to go re-buy.

Came out pretty nice, never done that before and had the glue bleed through jn a few places where i was too heavy handed. But all in all it looks great.

New carpet installed.

Gonna learn to do interior this week.

Then spend some time on the electrical. Its a serious mess of bandaids from all the previous owners. Not sure how far i have to backtrack.... But the mess is not working for me.

After that stereo.

Then who knows.

interior is done.....

i looked at it and decided that i didn't want to tackle that job, so i had my buddy do it. he did a fantastic job for me in two days.

just have to finish cleaning up the wiring, and radio... and a steering wheel.

then wait for the weather to warm up.

I called rex for a steering wheel but they are on backorder for months. Hopefully it will get here soon.

Re-wire and radio this weekend.

Finally got the wheel from rex. Fixed all the little things that were calling out to me..... And sold it.

It went to a good home.

On to the next project.
