Hey guys first post on the forum. I just picked up this 19ft Horizon and am pretty excited about it. It seems really unique, I can only find one other online. It's got a 460 Ford with a Berkeley 12JE pump. Got a really good deal on it because the previous owner thought the pump needed rebuilding. It turns out it just needed a wear ring and impeller due to a good sized rock seized in the impeller. Cleaned up the motor and replaced a few other things here and there. It looks like she's pretty much good to go now. I'm going to run it for the season then get ready to cry when I have it re-gelled. It's been painted with automotive paint and is definitely due for a freshening up. What's everyone think?
-
I think its cool but I'd rather be sitting on one side or the other
-
Nice. Blonde on the right, brunette on the left!

NICE! Looks a LOT like my Tahiti. Kinda digging the rear cover with the spoiler. Got any pics from the side / rear?
-
I'll take a few in the morning. Yeah the only thing I see as a downside right now as far as the center steering goes is I can't reach the dock from the center of the boat.
-
Hope you got a good deal, that boat been on CL for a very long time...

A few more pics. Had it out at Elsinore today.
-
So I had it out in Needles in March and had a great time but blew the motor up on the last day.
I just finished rebuilding the motor and my buddy and I decided to just do a full resto while it was out.
Tore out the floor and electric. About to start sanding...

Very clean boat, would love to see the finished product. What kind of paint are you using on it?
-
So far we sprayed a base coat of white gel coat then used a marine grade primer.

Are you gonna put a few more coats of the base or do you have a different paint to put on top of it.

I'm still going back and forth on colors so I haven't purchased anything yet. As of now it's looking like it's going to be a similar paint scheme to this but in white with blue stripes and orange pinstripes.

So as far as white paint goes you're done with it?
-
No that color in that picture is actually a light grey primer.

Ohhhh I see now, sorry. Have you found the brand of paint you will use, or do you have a preferred brand of paint? The reason I ask is because I'm repainting mine and I don't want to use the brand I used last time.
-
I'll make sure to post what brand I go with when I get it. it'll most likely be next weekend.

What brand of gel did you use? How hard to spray and any tips? Have a boat I hope to be starting soon and I have been reading till it hurts about gel and paint. Still undecided on which way I want to go.

We used Duratec gel coat. It's a ton of work but the nice thing about gel is you can really build it up. It's not terribly hard to spray but it's very thick.

Mocking up the motor and got her named and the CF numbers done. If anyone is wondering my buddies who helped me get the hull restored are Chris and Eric at Laveycraft Motorsports. I'd highly recommend them if anyone is looking to get some gelcoat or fiberglass work done.

Love the greys on the plates and headers. Looks great! Gonna be a nice float. Curios to see what numbers she runs when you're done

It shouldn't be too crazy, the build was pretty mild. I initially rebuilt the motor to slap it back into the old iteration of the hull then got super deep into the project. I plan to tear back into the motor after this summer.

I have 67 Horizon setting in my side yard. Had the boat for some 40 years and its been setting for at least 10years. Like reading your posts. One day I would like restore it as there is a lot of memories there!

Started the interior and sprayed the trailer. So freakin close to being done

Since the boat's center steer I had to build a center console. Really happy with how it turned out. Had it wrapped by Eddie at Martinez Marine. Also got her on the trailer. My rooms booked at Bluewater so now I'm scrambling to finish her up for testing before April.

The trailer came out like ass but I'm not going to have time to fix it before Bluewater. Right now it's good from far but far from good.

Should have it completely together in the next few days. I'll be dropping it in the water for the first time next week then it'll be off to Martinez to get some side panels built for the interior.
