Ok here is the deal. I need a bigger boat. The wife wants more room and so do I. I also want to be able to take on a little larger wakes without slowing down to a craw and putting the diverter up all the way and plowing through the wakes. Sooooo, here is what I found. Anybody have experience converting an outdrive to a Jet.
21 Foot Baja with a bad mercrusier v-6/I/O engine. The for sale add states the engine is seized. So I want to transplant my Jet and blown EFI engine into the Baja. I would have to do a setback intake for it to try and keep the engine in the original location. I am also thinking an intake spacer between the intake and the pump housing in order to keep the driveline angle correct. The exhaust would be thru transom headers. I know wiring and fuel systems would have to be modified. This is cake for me. Making or modifying engine mounts would also be pretty easy. I would want to keep the “stock” transom adapter and not use “home made plates” for the transom. This would entail making the stock Berk transom adapter longer by welding in flat stock. Again, pretty easy. If I get this thing I do not expect to be on the water till next year. I still need to see if the boat is still for sale, but I am just thinking I could do this and have a pretty cool boat.
Or should I just look to re-power the thing with a Mercruiser 350 Chevy. The add also states the outdrive has less than 50 hours on it, but I would still go thru it anyway.
Thanks.
