Title: 1976 Rogers TR Face Lift
Post by: 76Rogers on May 13, 2019, 07:41:22 AM
Well after finishing the final major milestone of this project, I figured now would be a good time to throw up some pictures of my progress so far. Here's my 1976 Rogers Bonneville TR that I've had for about 6 years and I've finally had the time and funds to give it the proper treatment she deserves.

The fun part started when the primer went down and I could start to see a major transformation already

After more and more sanding, got the primer down and shot the single stage on the bottom

My father in law shot the base coat on top without me so I wasn’t able to get pictures of that, but here’s the white base with the lines getting taped out for where the orange is going

I still have to do the wet sand, buff and wax process once this cures for a few days, but it looked too good not to post. I couldn’t contain myself

Thank you all for the kind words. We’ve been putting in serious work trying to get this thing finished before it gets too hot to work on. Hoping to have it polished and put back together by next weekend.
As far as power goes, I’m just putting the old 454 back in it. Maybe next year when my pockets aren’t hurting from the paint job I’ll put a little extra work in the motor, build it to a 468 and rebuild the pump. Or if I play my cards right, in a couple years I’ll enter the forbidden world of LS. There was a twin turbo LS powered Kona at LS fest that got the gears turning in my head. Good thing those gears drowned out the sound of my wallet screaming🤪

A quick update on this build. Got the motor and seats back in and got it re rigged and almost ready to go. I still need to get the lettering done and put the new valve covers on. Aside from that, just a few more small things I still need to button up, and she’s ready for her maiden voyage.

Also, yes I’m aware that the orange on the boat and trailer don’t match lol.
