Place Diverter Assistance
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:56:26 PM »
I have a 1974 Southwind/Jemcraft 21 ft with a 460 Ford. Everything runs great but I was thinking of getting a place diverter set up installed. It has a Berkeley 12JC.

Two things:
1) The original pump looks terrible and is greying somwhat, never been looked after before i got the boat last year - any suggestions on cleaning it up? Sand it? Spray paint it? If i attache some new parts it will look silly!
2) To what extent is it necessary to include a droop? I see some with a 'platform; for the pump, what is this and is it needed? Will i be wasitng my time and money on trying to get a good roos and incresaed bow attitude?

Any advice and comment is greatly appreciated!

X4, I am just finishing exactly what you are about to start.  Tom @ JBP has everything you will need, and some of the best advice out there.

Here is my little thread about my transom redo and place diverter install.  I will be adding updated pictures tomorrow.  Let me know if I can help.

Thanks Guys ! appreciate the promos ! Robert "bang for your buck/instant gratification" Place diverter or "Turbine trim"  are  the hands down winner for a "bolt on improvement" to any Jet boat. The benefits are endless (trim , holeshot etc) the down side is the expense Tom

re the "finish" we arent big on powder coating , we "strip, sand and epoxy paint' usually comes out pretty sweet ! heres on from friday

Robert, I think Tom forgot to mention to you that he's got the goods to get you going.  If you wanna run a droop you'll need a split bowl.  Like everyone else has said Tommy is your go to man!

Not gonna look silly when it's all under water, but I get it. And you'll have a blast with the diverter! The boat might only do 50 but gets thumbs up for the roost! Plus it can putter around a lot better trimmed down a bit I've found (Mines a 21 footer also, well, the one with the diverter).

Waiting on the verdict on my tax situation before I order one for the Moo boat, but it's getting one!  >:D
