Title: 19ft southwind
Post by: mobboss on May 18, 2020, 01:23:02 PM: Well got myself a new project, just picked it up and now comes the hard work. will be redoing the entire floor and installing full stringers.

Post by: mobboss on May 19, 2020, 10:20:59 AM: my goal is to make it a really nice boat for the family. not a show piece. so try to just clean the gell coat as best as possible. back to back seats little carpet down the middle nothing on the sides place diverter. and a bbo the moves!!! dad has to have fun as well!!!

Right on....yeah i have a bbo and it is super reliable.....and moves good too...nice project

Who are you using for machine work? what are your plans for power? we put 425 hp (dyno) through 3" guardian logs & snails (453 hp with car headers)

Sorry so many questions, engines are a passion of mine and Olds was my first

Are you familiar with Olds and their oiling issues and corrections? There was a good article about building an Olds to help with these issues. It’s posted here a few times.

Awesome. Just wanted to make sure you were aware BEFORE you machine and build it. The Olds can be a stout engine within its limitations.

Post by: midwestjet on July 24, 2020, 07:11:53 PM: Looking good so far! My 1/4 stringer Southwind had the same cracks in the strakes under the floor. I ended up converting it to full stringer and reinforcing the floors, i went ahead and blueprinted the bottom while I was at it.

Post by: mobboss on July 31, 2020, 11:46:31 AM: After i removed the stringers , i was able to order 2 pieces of LVL 2x6 then comes the fun part of shaping them to fit!!! You would not be leave how many times i had to put in and take each stringer!!!!!!!! :banghead:
Now i am grinding and sanding ALL of the socalled repairs over the years !
