Definitely a big project ahead of you. Southwinds are good hulls. What are your plans? Are you going to paint it? What motor?

Congrats!  looks like a fun project.  Let me know if you need any parts for the Olds! i have a few sitting in the garage. We had a 69 tahiti with an olds and i have a 69 442 so i have a few things.  ;)

Who are you using for machine work?  what are your plans for power?  we put 425 hp (dyno) through 3" guardian logs & snails (453 hp with car headers)

Sorry so many questions, engines are a passion of mine and Olds was my first

Are you familiar with Olds and their oiling issues and corrections? There was a good article about building an Olds to help with these issues. It’s posted here a few times.

Awesome. Just wanted to make sure you were aware BEFORE you machine and build it. The Olds can be a stout engine within its limitations.

Looking good so far! My 1/4 stringer Southwind had the same cracks in the strakes under the floor. I ended up converting it to full stringer and reinforcing the floors, i went ahead and blueprinted the bottom while I was at it.

After i removed the stringers , i was able to order 2 pieces of LVL 2x6 then comes the fun part of shaping them to fit!!! You would not be leave how many times i had to put in and take each stringer!!!!!!!!   :banghead:
Now i am grinding and sanding ALL of the socalled repairs over the years !
