Been looking for a 20' closed deck for awhile. This will go to my daughter and her husband. Just want to get it on the water. Not the full restoration like we did on the 19.

Working on the interior.
Old school radius front seats.
Resin coated and all corners inside and out are glassed

i dunno how you do those round backed seats with the relief cuts. i tried it, did a bunch of cuts like 2/16" between, soaked em, etc and when i went to bend them they just cracked all over.

I probably spend 3 to 4 hours applying water to the panels before I bend them. A wet towel down first, then lay the smooth side on it. then keep pouring the water on the grooved side. I still had it pop in a few places. Ground those spots down then glassed it for some rigidity. I fill the grooves with bondo on the inside to lock the radius in and then glass the inside too. With the grooves filled and glass on both sides it's a pretty stiff seat.

They have plywood I can't remember the technical term but where I get it they call it flexiboard. It's a full size sheet available in different thickness and it runs about 20 bucks more than a regular sheet. It's glued with all the layers grained the same way so it flexes a good amount one way but is ridgid the other. If you can find it its worth it. Really you'll only need half a sheet for the backs and a regular sheet of plywood for the bottoms.

It's called poplar bending stock.
We use it to build radius walls. Then wrap with laminates or wood veneer.
Too lazy to get it, so I did it the old way.

A couple shots of the exterior.
I know bow rails and rub rails aren't so cool now, but I put them back on.
Alot easier than filling holes.

20's are hard to find and I just sold one of my 19's.
The 20 came up on one of the boat sites.

dont let anyone tell you differently. bow rails ARE cool.

Back in the day, the bow rail was like a lap belt for kids.
It was common to see kids riding on the bow with their legs hanging over the sides and under the rail.

when i first got mine with the rail i was like "ugh" but the more im around it the more useful it becomes. i hang towels on it, i can tie stuff to it and i dont need cleats, etc. im planning on making mine an open bow eventually and it'll come in handy then too.

But I draw the line with cutting the bow open on this boat. Haha

No work at the shop, so I decided to get back on this project.

Glassed in the tank and put 2 layers of mat along with some cloth on the floor.
It was a little soft.

Got some carpet down

Bolted the seats back in to check th fit

I'll build them if you want me to, but it's a lot easier to buy glass buckets.
