Finally decided to start working on the float again since my unfortunate experience with a failed thrust bearing. 100% my fault for continuing to run with the bearing on the way out. It wasn't making much noise but I knew it needed to be replaced. The bad news... It pretty much ruined my pump. Good news is my pump needed to be rebuilt anyways..
It didn't look like it did anything to the motor when I tore it down but that 460 was getting pretty tired. After all I only paid $600 for the boat and was able to run it for a year but the whole boat was obviously pretty tired and worn out.
I got the boat looking pretty back over the winter when I painted it but now I've decided it's time to do it from the ground up and get everything looking awesome. Unfortunately because of the required funds I'm going to miss this season on the water :( However, I'd rather do it right once than have to go back and do it again later.
Going to start with the trailer, new paint, wheels, wiring, lights, bunks, and bow stop.
Got the boat up off the trailer and started tearing it down this afternoon. More pics to come as I slowly get this thing back on the water.

Yessir tear it all down and build it back up. Only way you'll know what's doing and what's been done right. I'll be watching this one close.

Got all the new parts on the way, bearings, shackles, bushings, and led lights. Sandblasted the axles and springs to get the ready for powdercoat before I left for work Tuesday but didn't have time to get them into the oven so that's the first thing I'll do when I get back this weekend. For now, more Delta tails on my way to cincy.

Wired in the lights this afternoon and a little extra glow with the flip of a switch to make all that white paint pop lol :) hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to source the bushings for the springs, haven't had much luck finding the right ones.

The progress is slow but hey I'm in no hurry really since winter is coming. It's mostly because I haven't had much time at home because of work. Anyways today I laid down the paint to stripe the fenders to match the other boat parts. Little bit at a time and it will eventually get done.

Got a bit more done today finally. The wheels I was originally going to use didn't fit very well so I went with plan b, cleaning up the old ones. Got them blasted today and painted white, going to paint the lip green once this white dries up. Also got the bunks on. That's it for now though, out to Hawaii for the weekend :)

Wheels are done, don't have pics but the tires are mounted now too. Dropping the boat back on tonight and then starting work on the interior. New vinyl, seat frames and carpet.

Dropped it back on the trailer today. Going to figure out some striping for too.... I laid a bunch of patterns out tonight but I haven't really found anything I like yet. I ended with some offset racing stripes that I think I like the best.

Doing some powdercoating today. Did the carb, scoop, and manifold. Manifold is black too but it's still cooking off in the oven.

Haven't decided on what I want to put on it. I keep going back and forth between a few ideas. Nothing is really exciting me too much so I'll just keel tweaking it until I get something I like.

Got a little more done today before I got called into work. Got all the glass work finished, tanks are back in, and painted the pump. Just have to sand the inside of the transom and the back third of the floor/bilge and lay down some paint then I can get the pump and engine back in so I can start work on all the new electrical and hard line plumbing.

Big day today! Got the new 460 fired up for the first time. Going to try and post up a quick vid while I was breaking in the cam and lifters. Sounds awesome, can't wait to be in the water and not on the trailer haha

Feel like another update is in order since its been a long time. Had it up and running well back in October and on a nice day I decided it was time to finally take it out for a test run on the river.... Lasted all of about 5 minutes. I am pretty embarrassed to even admit the following but in short I'm lucky I didn't sink it. I took off from the dock and made a few slow circles just making sure everything was working well before I got too far, after a few minutes the boat started to feel much heavier and more sluggish than I remembered it being before so I stopped to check it out. As the boat slowed it looked like the whole river came forward at my feet up front, luckily I was just a few feet from the dock at this point and was able to tie it up right away. Turns out when I was checking to make sure everything was all sealed up with the pump and all the bolts were tight, I forgot to tighten down the hand hole cover nuts. :banghead: :banghead: Luckily they were finger tight so I didn't blow the whole cover off. I consider myself pretty lucky. Also discovered that one of my fuel tanks was leaking because the previous owner had drilled through the side of the boat and right through the top of the tank in three places. Never knew about it until I filled that tank all the way up. Really upset me and progress slowed down for a few months but I'm getting back to it now.
Was a bit of a pain to tune the two holleys, blew out one power valve on a good backfire but now I got it running really well and it has me all excited again! More pics coming soon! Hope everyone is doing well in the new year!

Sounds like an amazing first trip! Those are simple fixes compared to most!

Unfortunately my new interior isn't going to be ready this season so I'll have to run the old stuff. It's not in terrible shape but it's not the easiest on the eyes.

Was awesome to finally go out to the lake and to finally have my boat done!!! Super excited for the summer now! Still have a little tinkering here and there to do to get it where I want but overall it runs strong and without any major problems.
Big thanks to my buddy fordlover for coming out with me to make sure everything was running right and bringing along some food haha
