So....it wasnt a good weekend overall for the boat.
not more than 3 minutes on the road, the engine hatch popped up, flipped over. It knocked off one of the swim steps then ripped the hatch hinges right out........followed by an 18 wheeler running it over.
The hatch is destroyed. The swim step is banged up but usable.
Friday evening I cruised it up river for about 10 minutes and it stalled...it would start and run for about 5 seconds then stall again. I ended up getting towed in by Wes (thanks bud)
Saturday Art picked up some new fuel filters and I swapped them out...fired it up on the trailer and ran great.....put it in the water and I wouldnt even idle out of the marina. I put it on the trailer and just tried to forget about it and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Sunday morning I was going through it all in my head trying to figure out what was going on....finally remembered I have a inline aluminum filter between the mechanical pump and the carb.....it came off the race boat and I cant remember the last time I cleaned it out....well, it was clogged all up. I removed it and it ran much better.
I cruised it up to the dam and back...Even towed Art from the Roadrunner back to the bluewater because he ran out of gas...and of course the gas pump at riverland was out of order.
Motor is strong, carb needs some adjustment....and I need some more up angle in the nozzle as its running a bit wet with just 4 degrees of wedge in it.
Also, I need to rebuild the seat bases. I tried to shortcut by using the ones I had, but reinforced them, but they didnt hold up after I hit the first wake causing me to have an instant recliner in the boat lol.
