Hey All, novice here?so be easy
New to the forums and have some general questions about a up coming build. Looking for tips on an engine build for my Tahiti. Currently have a stock 460 in it that I recently have taken out to ?rebuild?
My goals are to have a family friendly reliable but has a little goose to it jet. Looking to do new heads, cam, Rings and manifold if needed and a reliable water cooled header system that?s not copper lines that break every time we go out.
My questions for you all are pretty simple, what has worked for you and what to stay away from. Budget is around 5-6k annnd Go!

450 HP should be quite obtainable with mostly stock parts.
Quite a few 460 builds here on the boards.
Impeller selection is key for the HP you want. Knowing what it already has helps too.

Can you maybe point me in the direction of some of those motor builds?

I built the 460 for my southwind 20 and it spins the A in the pump 5000 rpm so I'm guessing that somewhere in the 400-450 hp range. Didn't really do much, cylinders bored .60 over, forged rods n pistons, decked, 3 angle on the heads and some mild porting, worked over a 750 double pumper on a performer 460 and pertonix hei distributor( changing to DUI ).

Knock the smog bumps out of the exhaust ports and grab yourself a set of rods. Give it a refresh with new bearings, rings and mild cam kit. send it
