This 69' Hallet (very early Jet ) was brought to us last month (appointment was made) with a simple request "I have a berk 12ja ,can I bring it up for a Place diverter ??" Boat install, runs 45 ish' now. When it showed up Josh and I took one look and said Holy Sh*T (never seen really seen a Berk jet install like this 'cept for the forums ("Slow ride") ) Paolo drove 190 miles Back to Encino (no work done) but we had some ideas and measurments .... note the xtra long reverse delio and the jet placement/linkage etc .

How cool is that? Hey Josh, what about a "jack shaft" for the steering to work from, otherwise the tiller bracket needs to be much taller, we had one made from 3/8" flat stock that used the cable bulkhead threaded area as an anchor point and then hard bolted to the origional cable connection, may not be high enough though....I'll try to scare up a photo or two.
The "jack shaft" would put the origional cable inside the boat at the transom and work similar to an outboards steering system, personally I would go hydraulic steering (Sea-Star).
Thats just too cool looking >:D

Glenn Josh actually made up something similar to that but due to where the steering was "located" by the rigger it would potentially bind (even though what he concocted was very cool) This was/is Phase 2 ,adding an AT bowl extender ,thus moving everthing back (below)

If anybody can figure it out, it's Josh, I'm betting he counts impellers in his sleep! ;)
BTW, nice double drill action, time consuming........ :P

that ingenuity is unbelievable!!!

Heres the final product ,now we have enough distance to make the steering work (without new holes)

That looks like one very expensive diverter set up!!!!

This was the email (part) I got back from the customer, pretty cool to get the feedback, looks like a decent improvement to me
....."The outcome was a 6 inch adaptor to a 1.5 inch droop snoot to a manual Place Diverter w/adjustable trim.
Final result(Alot less wetted surface) and a 11mph increase on the GPS!(I admit I was babying her and I think I can get another 4mph out of her!) resulting in a Top Speed of 60mph!!! Not bad for a 1969 Hallett w/ a 455 Olds!"

Cool....
The Dude is a Disc jockey for social events in northern La area super nice guy , I think with some "tune up" the boat has more MPH despite where the rigger saw fit to place that heavy a$$ motor and jet "back in they day" ;)
