Hey everyone, this is my first post here, and my first jet boat.
I have a 72 Sleek Craft Monterey
Olds 455
Torker
750 DP
RV cam
HEI
Motor has a few hours on it.
Bayjet Pump.
No Jetovator or anything like that. It looks good, and it ran good 2 weekends ago but we couldn't really see what it can do because of speed restrictions.
Faded gel coat and bad carpet.
Seats were recovered some time back and never used.
I already have the carpet out. Working on removing as much of the glue as possible before laying down something new.
I think I'm going to Put the carpet in and try and get it out a couple times before "winter".
I'd like to do something with the gel coat, it's factory rootbeer metal flake with a stripe. I kind of like it, but I don't know if I can do anything to preserve it. The metal flake might be poking through or something, but it feels like sandpaper and it's shedding glitter. Probably be stripping it down this winter.
I'm also thinking of converting back to thru transom exhaust. I'd like to re add factory seats in the rear corners and don't want to do that with over transom pipes, espescially with kids around.
Anyways, this is my first jet boat, I've been reading a lot and learning some. I realize I don't have the most desirable combo, but it runs good so I'll have fun with it.

Thanks for the welcome.
I think a lot of people take the windshields off, or maybe it was an option. Mine is cracked, but there is a place locally that makes them. Have to check it out and see if it's in the budget..
Anyways, home early, time to get to work.

Looking for a replacement windshield for my 72 Monterey. You mentioned a place nearby that makes them, hoping you get this and they may still be in business. Thanks a bunch!

Looks like the same windshield that is used on the Sidewinders, Jetsters and I believe Tahiti. Probably a few others that used the same windshield too just can’t think of em. Wish I could find some new windshields for my Avenger, they’re plexiglass or acrylic
