73 avenger rub rail problems

Rub rail came off from sitting in sun for 25 years and I don't have an idea how to fix. I can't just pop in new rivits becouse the the top of the back of the boat moved forward from the back of the transom and there's a gap. Someone help please

Same happeed to mine in areas and put some screw anchores size of hole and put a screw thru rail put back rubber...it worked for me 2 yrs still holding

Make sure they are stainless screws though
