Day 17 - Stringers are glassed in! My buddie really put in the effort today!

We cross/over laid the glass work 5 layers, which equals 8 layers in the crossover sections.
Three different types of glass the majority of it in the box pictured above. Some "bid tape" bi-directional glass for the odd shapes and vertical to flat work. Some other glass i didn't catch the name of for the strapped sections, high strength stuff. Plus the peanut butter Flock used as glue and to round the bottom seam from wood to boat so it's not a 90deg.

Nice job !! I have a Sanger superjet , also been wanting to extend my stringers from my 1/4 engine area your build gives me a lot of info appreciate your hard work looks great !!

Wood floors getting built and prepped. Shame to cover those nice new stringers but I wanted a flat floor for ease of install/maintenance. I did cut some access holes in the front to allow me to run cables/wiring down the channels. I also plan to add access hatches for additional storage below the floor. I will not be putting back the foam under the floor. This is 5/8" birch plywood, putting resin on the bottom to seal the wood from water intrusion.

Day 19 - Floors were still wet with resin so we couldn't finish that, BUT!!!!! I did get my engine back from the machine shop! Anyone spy the GD flag?

Day 21-24 - SEATS! All about seat building. This has taken some time to get fine tuned from ZERO to almost there. Little more building in some custom items and finish work.
Lots of delays due to the stay home crap but I’m really close, but still waiting on parts. These should be 100% be the end of the week unless my parts get another weeks delay (three weeks delay so far).

I started out with an idea/design flow from our old boats interior captain chairs, side rear seat and an flat engine cover/block.

The Sanger is narrower ad shorter both height and width then my old boat but the seats still need to "fit" average people so it get small real quick.
5/8" base 22" wide 54" deep is the overall size to work with. Then add in foam dimensions and things shrink up more and more.
Front bucket is planned for 18" deep/wide/tall. 1/8" masonite was used to build the round shape. The black barrel chair was from my office and it provided some "guidance" for size/shape.
Rear side bench will end up around 23" wide and 18" deep for rear passengers. I have found Knee to Knee is more comfortable as a passenger then wedging my knees against the back of the drivers seat found in most rear bench setups.
The 1x and 2x blocking is for the upholstery guys to staple too.

The fuel tanks I bought are 12" longer then the factory tanks. So as you can see they ran up into the rear seats. Notching and some sort of cover either glass/plastic/fabric will be made.

Couple of custom items to get at "spy" the low cup holder. More custom later on as I get my delayed parts....

Couple of update pictures. Waiting on a price for the upholstery.
Finished up moving the tank mounts and repaired the transom where the glass was falling off, no rot thankfully.

Still chasing Gel and cannot figure it out. Keeps flashing off way to fast and i've reduced the hardner 3x from recommended amount (it was 90 plus degrees).
Bow eye repair all done and ready for final gel/paint and assembly

getting back at it
prepping the back side of the dash, never looked and man it's delaminating! Scrape scrape scrape then I'll apply a layer of glass and resin

Oh and a sneak peak trying to decide on flat or angle gauges, plus a backer plate for the helm

Back at it Days 41-43

Wife likes the gauges flat, I like them angled so we'll have to fight this one out at final assembly!
Got some bondo on the trailer, wire wheel/sanded off some weld spatter, etc... and primered 1/2 of it. Need to de-grease and prime the back half.

and the big news flipped the boat upside down again to finish the Gel work that had really stopped all the progress. Thanks to a buddie who paints cars, he finally helped out and the Gel was sprayed down and looks great. It's not perfect but I'm good with it since it only see the water and trailer anyway.

There were screw holes, thin keel "beach rash", busted bow eye and some gouges that need to be fixed.

Day 45-46 - no pics
got the trailer 100% prepped ready to paint but wind wouldn't cooperate, so wet sanded the sides to smooth out all the lines from gel and the old painted graphics while it was upside down way easier.

next step is to cut/buff/polish the sides and decide on which insert to use the rock grate or loader, then we can flip it back for the last time
