So I let my boat sit too long and my cable is seized. If I turn the innermost nut that holds the cable into the threaded steering tube, the inner nut against the inner transom also spins. So I put a wrench on the nut outer most nut, the one that is outside the boat.  This is where it gets weird. I can hold the outer nut still and turn the inner most (cable nut not the inside transom nut) nut. When I do this the all inner nuts turn, the tube spins and the outside nut is secured with a wrench but nothing backs out. It guess the outer nut is striped ? CRAZY ! But I can't get it off. ugh, What can I use to secure the inner transom nut ? There is no room to get a wrench around it since it is in a depression inside the transom. I may have to cut the cable and slide one of those ratchet sleeves on it. I replaced this cable before but this time it's a real pita. 

I moved out here from San Diego in 2012 and used it 2 years out here in Indiana. My boat has been in a warehouse for 5 years at 80 bucks a month - do the math, (I dig this thing so I didn't want it rotting in an Indiana driveway) now to get it going again. You guys were a lot of help when I first got this 1976 Sleekcraft Executive back in the day.

So it looks like I may need to cut the outer bolt or get the inner most nut secure.

I was spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and nothing, now this morning it dawned on me ! The bolt is stripped, duh!

Anyways while all that turning is going on white powder was falling behind the nut outside the transom, took a bit till I realized that was my fiberglass !
