Factory intake was crooked AND off center - leading to the dreadful phrase 'how far do you want to set your pump back?'
Anyone have any tips on sealing the transom plate to the cleanout cover? I was thinking of welding a flat 'cap' to the cleanout cover. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
So you want to set your pump back and seal up the clean out cover?
I would just reset the intake unless your planning on big MPH numbers.
6" set back seems to be about where the clean out is on the outside of the boat.
Welding it will probably warp the housing causing alignment issues with the shaft.
If the clean out is on the outside i'd leave it functional.
Part of "plus" to having the clean out on the outside would be that you can actually use the clean out cover while in the water and not have to worry about water flooding the boat and still be able to get whatever is in your pump, out.
