Hello all, I'm Chris. Currently live in Daytona Beach, but grew up in Socal (Lawndale, Gardena, La Mirada, Norco and Lake Elsinore). My Dad had a Tahiti mini-daycruiser with a 455 when I was younger, took it all over (Blythe, Havasu, Nacimento, Isabella, Perris, etc).
Bought my first boat a few month's ago. 1981 Bahner Ltd Edition, Mild 402 BBC Berkeley Split Bowl, w Jet-o-vator. I've had it in the water a few times, runs 50 mph GPS w/ two people on 87 octane. Handles the chop out in the Atlantic pretty well too. Plenty of mickey mouse stuff to sort out but overall I'm happy with it.

Nice ;D
Welcome to SCJB.

Nice float

nice looking boat

Thanks for the compliments. Last time out I had some oil in the bilge, so out came the motor. I think the oil must have been hiding in the hull somewhere the whole time. I'm going to replace the gaskets, paint and polish, and re-route some stuff. Hopefully be back in the water soon.
-
looks great chris......my parents live in edgewater and are on the intercoastal all the time...
good luck with the reassembly

My friend Danny and I have been working on the boat pretty much everyday trying to get it back in the water before it gets too cold. We replaced most of the hardware and plumbing, paint, polish, hard anodized a few things to fend off salt water. Some parts we modified or made from scratch to clean it up.
What a mess
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi15.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa356%2Fkustom63%2Fbahner%2FIMAG0031.jpg&hash=4d85424ac5a4b68b72fa4e98d0f57974fd33e993)
Multiple small oil leaks, and plenty of junk steel hardware throughout
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi15.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa356%2Fkustom63%2Fbahner%2FIMAG0027.jpg&hash=d777f0997fa6227d9ec692bc6e7d58386bbc767e)
The alternator sat down in the bilge between the stringers and liked to throw belts.
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi15.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa356%2Fkustom63%2Fbahner%2FIMAG0029.jpg&hash=74834b62994927f340b0b239b75e441690478521)
Added a proper oil pan. I scored a nice Dooley but it turned out to be for a GEN V-VI, so this one will have to do for now. Hard anodized the timing cover, should holdup to the salt.

All my tools are in storage, so My friend Danny came through and probably did 75% of the work too.
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi15.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa356%2Fkustom63%2Fbahner%2FIMAG0168.jpg&hash=eae7f7d7988f71b37d75856099bb381089cdd3b3)
We got the alternator out of the bilge by chopping off the top of the bracket and drilling new holes in it. Adjuster was made out of Daytona Prototype tierod castoffs by my friend Trevor.

My brother Kevin did the polishing, I sprayed it with clear engine enamel to try to keep it looking half way decent.

As of today it's all back together aside from the steering. We broke the steering tube while trying to get some of the slop out of the jet-o-vator. I'm gonna work on making a new one tommorrow. Hopefully it will be in the water by the end of the week.

Took the boat out a few times over the winter, been running good but there's always room for improvement. We are in the process of switching from jet-o-vator to place diverter, pulled the split bowl and found that there was no seal whatsoever in the bowl. Previous owner said he rebuilt the pump, had at least one extra part leftover LOL. Luckily the shaft is not damaged. I'm putting on a C bowl on it for the time being, and making it look good in the process.

I used rustoleum appliance expoxy. I torn the motor down to the long block, wire brushed everything I possiblly could then used phosphoric acid to try to kill the rust. I painted it with a brush to get it on thick in all the nooks, then hit it with a couple coats of spray from a can. After I bolted everything on I went back over all the gasket seams with a small brush to seal it as best I could.

Yes it's painted white. The last pic I posted was of the motor after the phosphoric acid was applied.

Transom is rotten, going to have to pull the pump and intake before i can rip that out. Got some rot in the stringers as well. On yours did they skimp on resin on the stringers under the floor?

they do look a little dry but mine were still solid all the way down. there is a little bit of rot where they meet the transom, not sure if i will do anything about that or just leave it be. also in the very front they didnt completely wrap the stringer and it was rotten a good 3-4 inches at the very end which i cut out.
-
They didn't wrap mine at the end either, I'll have to get a pic of the damage.
-
soooo what happened with your bahner? did you ever finish it?
-
No, i haven't worked on it in a while. I've had too many other projects going on.

OMG that white just reached out and grabbed me. That looks so bitchen! It makes me rethink my whole color scheme.
Cheers,
