Title: any opinoins on 21 Biesemeyer

cant seem to find much on this boat, needs to be gone through, but so does my 19 Cobrajet. 
  this cruiser comes with a jg-a bump with jetovator and 460 ford that needs a rb, what can i expect with a 500 hp motor in this barge

You really can't go wrong with the Biesemeyer as long as all the normal old hull problems aren't problems  :thumbup:

I love the 21's nice riding well built boats...i have had 3 friends that have owned them....my friend had a stock 460 with a jb a in it and ran about 52mph....

thanks guys, I ll have to crawl under it, im just asumeing the floor is shot, didnt find any soft spots but the interior is shot,only looked it over quick, offered the guy 250 told him i wanted it for parts

I doubt you'll find a better 21' mini day out there. I REALLY miss mine! Wish I'da had more time with it, but it is what it is. Mine was a '78. Bought a second one as a project, but actually sold that one on the phone as I was towing it home.  :banghead:

With a stock, well worn 460 and a JC with hydraulic diverter it'd do 45 to maybe 50 on a good day, but it'd take chop, rollers, wakes and high wind like nothing I've ever been in. Drove like a Cadillac on the local lakes. Nimble and stable. If I had to change anything it woulda been to make the engine as quiet as possible with down turn tips, etc so the jump seats were a little more fit for human habitation.

If the floor is shot, remove ALL the foam, and replace, at your descretion. And remove the tanks for a good pressure check/cleaning/overhual. Experience here with that!  :screwy:

All in All, I'd hold that Beiser up above any Nordic, Sanger or Hallett of the same size. Ridden in all, and driven most, none handled as smoothly IMHO.  Good score! :thumbup:

Edit: and FWIW, the soft spots in the floor of every Beiser I looked at seemed to occur right around the doghouse.........

thanks for the info, i do a bit on running on Lake Michigan, and was wondering how it would handle the chop,    did you refoam after replacing the floor?    this is also a 78 model

  don't no chit about fords but will figure it out,    my old man has a f-700 with 460 would this be a better block to work with [rods?].     the one for it is pulled apart with some pretty good ring groves,    stock oil pan ,     dont know if its the original motor,     he said one of the heads cracked and had an extra set.      last registerd in 98 so its been sitting awhile

 pulling the floor wont be any more work than what i have on the Cobrajet,     the floor is out on that one but the hull is cracked along one of the strakes where the floor sets in,     the hull is pretty thin on the cobra.

 actually looked at the biesemeyer for parts but think i will be money ahead on this over the cobrajet

No, Mine burned and sank before I got that far with it, lol.  There was apparently a long term fuel leak that soked up in the foam, etc, etc. Lesson learned!

I wouldn't go replacing the floor unless you find soft spots, myself, but I would have the tanks checked out. Can be done while they're still in the boat. I don't know that leaky tanks are  common Bieser problem, better safe than sorry though.  ;)

 the hole glass tank thing doesnt sound cool, want to run e-85 and heard the glass doesnt like it
 
 would have to make some custom tanks, they are a weird shape from what i saw

Ray, Is that a Beiser? Looks similar to my '76 Eliminator, handles Lake Mo'choppy pretty well, pulls my 265+ lbs out of the water, planes slow enough to pull kids on doubles, runs 54 to 58,(mostly stock 454) depending on load and gear. Like a Lazy boy on the water :thumbup:

Yes, Daniel, that WAS my Biesemeyer.  I'll throw a couple more up. One of the things that was neat about it was no bulkhead. I coulda smuggled 15-20 mexicans under the bow of that thing! :thumbup:

Oh, and YES, that video on Youtube was my floating weenie roast......... :'(
Whole thread on it here somewhere, but it basically burned for about 2 hours then folded like a taco shell and sank to the bottom of Saguaro lake. It's still there, as Harry pointed out. Friend of mine mapped it's location with sonar and it looks like it stuck in the bottom like a lawn dart pump first.  ::)

Yea that fucr had three flats, rubber flyn all over the place. Then went to look at this house I wanna buy and there was a set of universal aluminum wheels and tires stacked in the driveway...T/Y

I'm wondering about your mention of fiberglass tanks? Mine were aluminum? Regardless, E85 (From another discussion over on PB that Proppy and I started) is perfectly fine with fiberglass. Someone even mentioned it's stored in 'glass tanks at many facilities. If anything, I'd be more concerned with it on aluminum parts (alcohol eats aluminum) and not store it with fuel in the tanks, otherwise you should be fine.

John, I'd love to dive that wreck and see whats left! That swim deck was perfect! But, its been under about 175 feet of water for a year and a half........ cant save a thing now,  :'(

"that" hull was splashed by kona, charger, saguaro, and who knows who else.
My personal opinion gives that hull a 7 out of 10 over all.
The "better" built and performing boats are less available and generally better taken care of therefore you don't find them rotting away and being sold as "parts boats"
As far as rebuilding it and putting stock/mild power to it, you will be hard pressed to find its weaknesses or where it will be out performed.
Solid boats for sure and pretty ideal for what we use them for.
Just another opinion though.

 Ray, I do know that at least some of them had glass originally. I remember the one my parents had when I was a kid (dont know what year it was), there where cut outs in the interior side panels where you could see the tanks. Was kinda cool because you could see through the fiberglass and tell how much fuel was in the tank.  I remember watching the fuel slosh around in there. 

 BTW, they might be great boats but as a kid I hated that boat !!!  My mom talked my dad into selling your mech injected wood deck flatbottom to get that thing (more family friendly).  I love my mom, but I will never forgive her for that.  :screwy:

WOMEN!!  LOL! Well, I can't say much, because I've said many times before if Cin were still with us, Moo woulda been started up in the garage, ONCE, and probably been on Craigslist inside of 10 minutes after that event! As it is, I've had free reign on these things.  >:D

Omar is the Lord and Saviour when it comes to hulls, and I'll never doubt his word. My experience, and I stand behind my statement, has been with pretty much stock, docile hardware. Throw 600+ HP into a 21' Bieser (or Nordic or Sanger) and I have no idea what it'll do. I know mine was a Bieser because of the tell tale drop outer chines that even the cruisers had. I CAN tell you what it'll do in an 18' and a 20' Sleek, however  ;), and as Proppy pointed out, we're about to find out real quick what nearly double THAT will do to a 1/4 stringer 18' Sleek  :o  .  Could get ugly.........
Omar makes a valid point, and Proppy endorses it, that Biesers were inconsistent and made in several places. Mine in Phoenix, WAY before the drunken stupor that led to the end of that companywhen it was in Globe.  A '78, you're safe, made in PHX, Heavy layup, good to go.

I'm in a deal, personally, that I'm not even gonna try and explain here, you guys are brutal, and why I love you all! But I'd love to have that sloth old Bieser back! I think it'd be proper to break Carol in on that, then throw her in Nick or Marcs boat to see just how bad it COULD be! I'd be in a much better position to be able to sell whats under construction here a little easier,  ;)   

In my personal opinion, and many on the site were in or borrowed that boat, it came up on plane inside of 30 MPH, and left me no reason to beleive it was NOT capable of 70+ pretty handily and still maintain it's nimble handling. Woulda taken a LOT more than 600 hp to get to 70, but I doubt the handling woulda have changed though.....

this one is set up with the cut out as mentioned to see the fuel level, the name tags on the side were bigger than the ones pictured above, the hull is stameped 78, maybe its a 79 model as sold
