78 phantom jet boat

Has anyone heard of a phantom jet boat before. Are they any good?

I dont know.
Whats it look like.
Usually a picture will tell you if it's a dead give away, splash, or not.

In 1978 80% of the jet boats out there were splashes, or modified splashes of an original.

Questions you are going to be asked when YOU ask this question:
1. What are you going to use it for ?
2. What motor and drive is in it ?
3. Are you planning on keeping that motor and drive ?
4. How much money are planing on spending on this boat ?
5. What makes a boat "good"  ??? BTW

The boat is a 78 phantom. It is setup to run a ford 460. My plans are to have a play toy. Im building the family ride and looking to make something loud and look good no sking allowed. Ive never heard of them except for fishing aluminum boats and I didnt find anyone here with one. Heres a pic

BTW, not a phucking clue what a Phantom Jetboat is......IMHO all boat manufactures built some real pieces of crap, there is nothing in a name but a name...

Only the one off custom built boats you see selling for tens of thousands of dollars are what I would call "Special" even then Buyer Beware. :sly:

We had (bought and sold ) a Phantom a 6/8/10 years back or so , was a pretty decent boat (very "strange LSD paint" and in fact I built a Olds motor for it and used it part  of one season as my "dealer driver" Boat was very "Tahiti like" as I recall verifying Omars thoughts that it was likely a splash off something Good luck with the project ! Tom

Your gonna have to gut the boat to look for rotten wood or any tell tale sign of needed repair.
Especially right around the motor mount feet.

BTW , there is no such thing as a "good boat"  :thumbdown:
They are all headaches and money pits !

it does kind of look like tahiti. I will retract my statement of a good boat. Sorry. I completely agree they are all money pits, but its better than just handing my wife my paycheck and going shopping. before I knew it I had almost $5000 in my 455 but it sounds good and cannot be taken back to Walmart. here is a pic of the rear

HEY SLEEK I HAVE THE 76 PHANTOM I PICKED UP ON TRADE ITS THE BOAT WITH THE LSD PAINT AS TOM CALLED IT AM DOING RESTO HAD TO DO FLOOR  AND SORRY TOM PAINT HAS TO GO GOT A 455 OLDS ON TRADE TO PUT BACK IN IT ITS A COOL BOAT COOL SEEING THOSE PICS TOM AND SLEEK TOM CAN GET OR HAS WHAT EVER IT IS YOU NEED SO HE IS THE ONE TO TALK TO GOOD LUCK PLAYING WITH BOATS IS ALLLMOST BETTER THEN --- WELL AFTER 18 YEARS HAVE FUN HONDA1
