Well guys, I finally got it home on Friday night. Had my sister stop by Riverdads house on her way up to Vegas. This boat is sweet! I can't wait to drop my pickle power in there. Need to make fuel lines, water lines, install a nozzle and drop in the engine. Here is the first pic

Beautiful project!
But she's gonna kick your a$$ when she trys to get the dryer door open..... :screwy:

Single Dad... The she who does the laundry is 9. I'd like to see her try to kick my ass, lol. Honestly it is a tight fit in the garage but not quite as bad as it looks.

LOL! Same boat here, but my 13 year old cannot figure out that thing or the dishwasher. I think I posted pics of what happened when she did run the dishwasher once, classic! As my mom says, "With Becca's personality, we can hope she marries well....." . I'm not sure what to think about that, coming from her grandmother...... :screwy:
Looks a lot like Nordies boat, and I love Nordies boat. You should have a very good handling boat there!

Berkeley straight nozzle bulkhead style, there is also a Berkeley clamp style....It really depends on what cable you have and what bucket you are going to run....Standard bucket with a bulkhead cable mount is pretty typical. I am going out to the shed to see if I have one holding the door open.... :sly:

So yesterday my brother dropped the engine in my boat for me. Now I just have to tie up all the loose ends. The only thing I still need is the nozzle. Other than that I have to mount a few things and make some water and fuel lines.

Run over to Terry's, or ask Brad if he still has it. I got a T-valve sitting somewhere in Vegas..... :screwy: Yours to have, just replace it someday. Ask Brad if he still has the alt I loaned him and if he replaced it or not. Should be just what you need! Same deal.
Between Terry, Brad and Nordie, any fitting you need should be in a box somewhere. I got a ton here I can send, but dunno specifically what you need. Get this thing done already would ya?

Thanx Ray! I will hit Brad up. I don't think the alt will work, I have the same one and it seems to be quite a bit too large. I'm gonna have to buy one of those mini hot rod ones. As for the fittings, I bought most of what I need the other day so I should be pretty good on fittings.
-
Hey John, nozzle went out this morning. Sorry it's takin so long to get to ya, there's no excuse for it to take this long. I've just been crazt busy at work at this new gullwing project has been kicked my arse.......
My brother might have a manual floor mount control with diverter coming in so I'll hit you up as soon as it does. If you need any other parts and pieces let me know and if I've got em sitting around the shop they are yours... Jason
-
Well, I finally got off my ass... now that it's desert season... and got something done on the boat. I got the water plumbed into the engine over the weekend, still need to plumb my headers and fuel. Oh yeah and I need a tutorial on how to assemble this nozzle RiverDad sent to me, lol.
-
Did a little more work on the boat tonight... does something look wrong here to you guys? I'm not sure the reverse bucket should hit the nozzle adapter.
-

Looks like a Berkeley bucket on a non Berkeley adapter.....May need to switch out either the adapter or go to a strap clamp tiller with a butt bucket....
Or.....Pick up a Diverter... ;)

I moved the Tahiti to our new house on Sunday and once it came out into the light I remembered what a good looking boat it is... I guess it's time to get off my lazy ass and finish it.
Need to...
1. Finish plumbing, headers, fuel, clamp all other hoses.
2. Mount mini Alt.
3. Figure out wiring and hook up.
4. Hook up steering
5. Hook up forward / reverse cable
6. Float
-
Just to double impress upon you the importance of your #1, There's a nasty, but funny, rumour or story or something floating around this site about me and what happens when you forget to tighten even ONE hose clamp...................... :sly:
on #2, if you need alt mounts, hafta dig, but picked up a few sets of polished SS SCJ lo-mounts a guy makes quite a while back. Great stuff. Was like a buck or so each. I'll see if I still have his info for ya.
on #3 STD wiring and color coding is all over this site, and much simpler than you'd think bro!
#4, well, worse comes to worse, a ski rope over each shoulder tied to either side of the nozzle CAN steer the thing..........
#5 Whats "Reverse" ???????
#6 Float? It should FLY! Wood floats, a styrofoam cup floats, oil floats, dead bodies and ex-wives float, I've even taken dumps that float! It takes no work at all to do any of these things and just "float", so why just that after so much work on the boat? ;)
Problems solved! Get it running Jon!

Closer and closer everyday. Looking for a steering cable extension for a droop.

Got it started today, if I could figure out how to post a video I would show you guys.
Tahiti Jet boat Engine Start up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYZk_t06Dx0#ws)

I think you have to resize your image of your photos because your image is to big that probably why you can't get it to post. Original size is probably (1024x768) you want to resize it down to (640x480). Meaning the first set of numbers is document size and the second set of numbers are e-mail size. Not to be a smart ass, but this is what I have to do to most of my pics before I post. After I resize it, it works all the time. Oh and by the way SWEET ride. Very clean.
-
Digging your hoses and routing! ;) Very different!
Only time I ever saw that stuff used was on a beer bong!

Looks like the video link above works...

Thanks for all the compliments guys... I have one more thing to do before it is in the water. I have to make a throttle cable mount. Hopefully I will have it out this weekend.
-
Took the boat out this morning, early am. Ran great! Got some little things to fix, small transom leak at the adapter, bilge pump not working, alternator not charging.
-
Well guys, I took the Tahiti out again and this time it worked much better. I made a tool (device) for the purpose of adjusting Ignition timing on the fly. It worked great, we picked up 200 RPM. Got the Bilge pump and Alternator working... Wasn't very difficult, I just had to plug in ALL the wires, lol. As for my leaky transom adapter, what sealer do you guys use for this?
-
Looks great John, now you have no reason not to go to Willow with us! I used just simple marine sily-cone for my transom adapter when I did my bowl swap a few weeks ago. I put a thin layer on each side of the gasket, a little on the hardware (or they will leak like a SOB), and a nice clean bead around the outside @ the transom , and @ the bowl worked nicely.

Except for the freezing water at Willow, lol!
What brand of silicone did you use and where do I buy it?
-
Honestly? Don't laugh, I got it @ Wally World for 10 bucks. They have two versions, a removable and a permanent silicone. Get the removable. I don't remember the brand, but it works really well

Awesome!! Thank you

Took the boat to Willow Beach today. Ran pretty good. Found a few more bugs... Had a great day!!

This is the step I did to get your picture to show up:
When you select the image, it will insert the code for the option you selected into your post. The number in the code refers to the attachment number.
these instructions are pretty straight forward. Let me know if you have any questions.
-
Since I have succesfully posted pics before... and tried 2 of these methods this time... Maybe it's not me, everytime.
-
Why don't you just get a Photobucket account and not have to mess with any of the resizing b.s., I wouldn't do it any other way.
-
Well, I finally compiled some of my pics and put them together in a build video. Thought you guys might enjoy, give me some feedback.
