hey guys. Got the boat out the other day to clean it and get it ready for this summer and went to start it and got nothing. At first i think the coil went bad and no spark. checked it and wasnt the problem. Got spark and fuel but wont start :screwy: I have a 650 holley on it and i had a 750 in the shop so i threw it on and it started right up. Went out yesterday to start it and again nothing :banghead: :banghead: I noticed on both carbs its leaking from the back bowl. any ideas ?

Float level too high/stuck? gaskets all dried out? crap in the needle-and-seat? double pumper accelerator pump leaking/dried out? Holley's are pretty easy to go through with a renew kit. Sounds like your starting problem could be fuel leaking internally- renew kit and/or power valve shot. Mechanical or electric fuel pump?

not enough info, as in does it crank over fast or slow, does it try to start and die or it just cranks and nothing. did you try to spray gas down the carb to start it?

I was thinking the same thing about the float level but its weird that it leaks from the same spot in both carbs :screwy: I went through the 750 thats on there now and clean everything and the gaskets looked fine. no cracking or brittle. im running an manual fuel puump. as far as info the boat cranks over fine just doesnt start. pumping the carb shoots fuel into it but still nothing. the carb is a 750 vacuum secondary for more info. I think im going to pull apart my old 650 that was on there and rebuild it. ive had problems with this 750 not idling. and crewchief you got that in cash ? save me the headache lol

well for one thing you really dont want vacuum operated carb on jetboat (maybe an boat ) they tend not to fully open at wot. second if your getting gas and you have spark it should at least burp.you have something else going on.

thats what ive heard but mine opens all the way. had my brother look into it when i stood on it. I got the carb from farmer gord and its a real good carb i think it just got junk in it. but i agree, even if its gummed up it would still fire just wouldnt run good. Like i said it wouldnt start so i put the 750 on there and it started right up. then let it sit for a couple days and now same thing. :screwy: im gonna have my 650 rebuilt and worked and clean up some of the wiring while i have some time

check the fuel lines? see if you have fuel up too the carb at all times.

yeah i have fuel to it. i have a guage and it pumps up to the carb everytime and fuel shoots into the carb

ok well, yah it has to be the carb. but usually it will at least burp, like i said. weird!

Once my holley 3310 squirted gsd at bottom but when opened all the way you would not get a good squirt out of the top part. Not enough gas would come out to start it, only just to sputter one or twice and die.

yeah see mine doesnt even sputter it just cranks. even if i put it to the floor and crank nothing. :screwy: Im lost guys. I took my 650 apart yesterday and replaced some of the gaskets and blew everything out. there was some dirt in there and one of the gaskets was real bad but it should still start just run bad right ?

well if you got it all back together put it on and try it out, yah it should have done something. but stranger things have happened.

well i put the old 650 back on, pumped it a couple times and she started right up again :sly: shut it off and started it a couple more times and seems fine. im gonna leave it alone and start it later today and see if it does. if not its got to be the carb right ?

Yea. I would say its carb. Mine was carb. Rebuilt and runs fine now also

yeah im gonna go have this thing gone through and maybe tweak it a little. thanks for the help guys ! anybody looking to trade a performer manifold for a 750 carb ? or some other parts ?
