Is there an ideal length to have your cav plate sticking out . I thought I had dreamed up some pretty bitchin idea of how I wanted to put the plates on my boat and as it turns out the "splash" boat (or "crash" as it was refered to in Parker) had it done the same way .
The pillow blocks are also not long enough to clear the transome cover so should I just have longer ones made or toss the transome cover and put plates like a set back pump has . I'm getting pretty buzzed now so I gotta get my ass in the garage and get to work or else . I'll be sure to take some pictures.

I think cav plates are for when you have braces and you get a cavity. It's been a long long time since I had braces but that's the way I remember it. ;)
If you block up the pillows you're definately going to get a headache. The pillows just don't have enough cushion in them to prevent a bump on your head. ;)
I think you didn't get any replies because no one has a clue (like me). ;)

I have a clue . I just dont have all the hardware and a properly set up boat for all this fandangled hardware.

Still sitting here with my thumb in my ass . I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that after all this shit is installed , I'll be able to replace anything that needs to be replaced . Mainly it's location and wether or not this old shit will hold up .

All this fluff and no real input ::) I'd say about 7"-8" x 20"-24". We used to have a pretty bitchen set up layin around that used 3 rods one spaced out from the transom adapter to transfer the "adjustment" (for lack of a better word), It was complex but always looked like it would have worked well.

Thats about what I came up with Josh (demensions wise) my only beef at this point is if the cav plates and rods and arms are even going to be strong enough . I figured worst case senario , if I installed all this hardware I could always upgrade later and all my dimensions would be there . The only thing that would change would be the thickness of the plates themselves of course if at all .
