Title: Electric fuel pump wiring? Relay

I'm adding a relay and trying to wire up this fuel pump the right way. Yes I did it wrong the first time. For the main power should I add another power wire going straight from the battery or can I go from the distribution block mounted on the motor. I'm definitely going to run the ground back to the batter or block. Any input is appreciated!

Always add power straight from the battery.

Another Q. I have seen two different diagrams one with a ground wire for both the relay and fuel pump going back to the battery or block. The other with the fuel pump ground going back to the block and the ground for the relay going on accessory or something.

Question is do I need to run grounds for both back to the battery or can I ground the relay to an accessory, fuse panel under the bow etc...

Consider hot to the relay and switch to ground.  That way, you have much fewer hot wires going to the dash.

Jump 86 and 87.  Switch 85 to ground

Is that right? I already have it wired the way the diagram above shows, with the exception of the ground on the relay. I already have a 12 ga ground going from the fuel pump to the the block. I was wondering if I could tie the relay into that ground or ground it somewhere under the dash. Most of what I read so the relay ground can be a simple ground with 16 ga.

I would rather see you use an oil pressure safety switch and use the ignition circuit.... But I'm odd that way.
