Proppy, if it drives/runs even 1/3 as good as it looks, you better bring a change of shorts!

Where you taking it? I'll buy the lunch!

I told Nordie the same thing 2 weeks ago about the Baffles I removed from the Bassett's I sent him and tried in the Rewarders on the Moo! He doesn't beleive me! Made no difference other than robbing RPM!

Good to know there's other's with the same opinion! lol.

Ray

So now I drilled holes in the bottom of the rewarders for no apparent reason! lol.

Ray,  The old corkscrew style I had in the Lancer did a good job quieting it down, but they absolutely killed the power.  These new ones from Tom don't do much as far as quieting it down (I ordered the shortest ones he had), so hopefully they wont cost much power.

Just a side note,  These short headers look really cool (to me), but be warned people.  They spit nasty dirty water all over the transom if you run them wet.  :banghead:

NAw, I'm an open header kinda guy. My acute hearing long gone from hot rodding that way and too much gunfire without protection, music, etc. I tried the baffles only because of Saguaro lake here I was TOLD was more strict than regulations were. WRONGO!, but that's another matter. Anyway, put them in, then took them right back out (They're still in the truck I think) . Told Nordie they made shit bit o difference to me, only robbed RPM's.

Nordie says I'm just deaf (I don't think that's the case, but close) and a liar because the open headers I sent him, apparently, made his Mohawk stand up like morning wood I guess! lol

Woulda loved to have seen that, lol. (Talk about a Kodak moment!)

Jeff Per your PM , yes as an objective observers Josh and I (as you know ) have been watching this for some time , The good news I honestly belive this can be corrected and make this a "palatable" Lake boat Completely under stand the frustration and Heart ache This much is true This can be corrected ! Tom

FWIW there were clearly some inconsistacies in the representation of this IMO , and thats a standard Berk 4* intake not a low profile

I say Lets not be defeated by this lets fix it ! Set the jet back drop the intake and move the motor back as far as allowed  a couple days work You pull the motor and the Jet , let Josh set the intake ,!

Just so everybody knows and you dont think Toms previous post was off the wall.  After installing the droop and looking at things for awhile, there seems to be some issues with this thing (the droop made it more noticeable).  At this point I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it.  I still plan to take it out Sunday, and see what it does.  As far as what the problem is, it has to do with the amount of rocker this hull has and the fact that it has a set back pump.  Moving the pump back put the intake farther back on the rocker and gave it some issues to deal with.  As it is now the hull wants to set all the way back on the rideplate and really fly.  This may have worked in the past with the massive power it had and as an all out drag boat, but it never had to cruise to the hang out spot.  Busby and the late Tom Papp had this thing set up to be an all or nothing boat.  They did what needed to be done to get it run as fast as it did, multiple passes over 121mph.  Unfortunately I dont have that kind of power and I do need it to behave in at least a semi reasonable manner for the trip from the ramp to the hang out spot (and back) without having to tow it around and just make passes with it.

Bottom line is, not to many people would buy an old blown alcohol drag car and try to turn it into a daily driver.  But thats exactly what I'm doing with this thing.  :screwy:

Now if I had that motor this thing would work.   :(

But I still have a few secret ideas up my sleeve that might help tame this thing.  If all else fails I saved a spot in front of the batt that's just the right size for a nitrous bottle.  >:D

Just a reminder for those that don't remember where this boat came from, hears a crappy old pic from when Busby owned it.

Still fighting with it John, Its been on the water every weekend and its making small improvements here and there.  I'm not giving up on it, I will make this thing work somehow !!  Here's a pic someone from over on PB took from Mendota last weekend.  Couldn't really get any feedback from the set up changes because it decided to run like crap  :banghead: .   As soon as I get it figured out I'll let you know what it wanted, might be helpfull info for the Sanger.

You know I wont give up Steve, I'm way to stubborn to let the boat win !!!!

Skip,  Its just east of Mendota on 180. Not really sure where the water comes from, but I really liked the place.  No rollbar boats/wake barges, they would be stuck between the bridges where the ramp is (very small area, and low bridges  ;D),  I didn't get to explore the place but I was told it goes on for a long way.

Oops, what I should have said was, its a terrible place to take a boat and we all decided to NEVER go back !!  Its full of mosquitoes and man eating fish.  Not to mention the water kinda burns your skin and dissolves fiberglass.  :o

Well boys, I found my HP issue.

After 8 yrs of faithfull service the Mighty BBF is hurt.  :'( :'(   It was down to 4100rpm yesterday and sounded bad doing it.  I pulled the valve covers tonight and found a handful of rockers with lots and lots of "clearance".  Looks like it ate the cam.

Now I'm boatless again., in the middle of summer, AGAIN !!!!  SON OF A ##### !!!!!!!  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'm not sure what the plan will be yet.  I need to talk to my motor guy, but I do know I need more power.   Might go for a BIG stroker, or something bottle fed, or both !!  >:D

 Anybody have a blower manifold for a 460 sitting around ?   >:D ;D

I'm told that once you get a good "Blower", you'll never be the same tho......................Lord I hope it wasn't Beerjet that told me that...................................

Edit: FWIW, also have a cam and lifter set you can have, only 20 minutes run time, from the original tossed rod engine from the Moo. Looks fine, but have no idea what make or grind it is, but it's yours to try Jeff if you need it. (Might get you in the water quick!, was supposed to be a hot lil number according to the PO) I'll try and get pics tomorrow or Wednesday of it.
