... By the time you're done putting new stringers, jet pump, ligning everything up, getting the parts, uhggg... keep the outboard it'll be faster that way, have more interior room, and use less gas.
NICE! LMFAO ;DLook I'm cool!!!
Look I'm cool!!!Since when?! ;D
wft, lolYer right Plesh WFT?!?! ;D
does it have a center 3rd sponsoon like this one...Yes, it looks just like that, but maybe different dimentions. I'm going to take the Berkeley transom plate out to the boat later and see if it looks the same. :-\ I think the center sponsoon may be to narrow, the berkeley plate is 14.5 in wide and when I measered the hull yesterday I think it was only 12.5 in >:( , but I realy cant remember and the boat is at my parents house, I need to do something with my old boat before bringing another project home ;)

.... And yea I know the outboard will be faster, have more room, and use less fuel, but thay are BUT UGLY and sound downright UNAMERICAN !! I WANT MY BIG BLOCK !! There's nothing better than pulling out the baffeles and wakeing up the whole lake at 7am ;D ;D ;D

Thats the original AMERICAN BOAT motor.. ;) There's nothing better then quitely flying by the obnoxious dude with his baffeles out and the whole lakes sees it since he woke em all up.... ;D
**** that, fix it and run it. You will be happier doing that. ;DNice one Plesh... ;) ;D ;D
save the car motor for the car >:D
I coulda sworn the boat tom was doing that conversion on was this boat.....
anyways....cool boat.....whats your plans with it?
Thats no fair though I think your boat is cleaner than mine.
I'm hoping you have the 1.62:1 lower, it would make it rare but faster than hell, when you pull the lower to replace the water pump count the rotations it takes to get the propshaft to go around once (two turns = 2.0:1)
Does it have solid motor mounts? very very important...
I have a free box of crap for you (not literally), Its a complete ignition/charging system from a Mariner 2.5 and should be the same as yours. BTW we used to call the Black Max's B/M's ::)I love free crap ;D ;D
The nose cone and LWPU you need is actually for a gen.2 Alpha series drive, with some minor modification works tits.Is this something you can do ? I was told the lower unit on these motors was there downfall (if you break it throw the motor away, no parts available, and nothing will interchange).
BTW these things normally use about 3psi fuel pressure at the most.
A cleaver type prop is a "transom lifting" prop and will make that tunnel really work, but a "chopper style" would make it much more driveable (makes "slop" count the same as "skill" ;))"Slop" count as "skill" !! That's for me !!! But I was thinking something basic just to get an idea what the boat/motor wants. And for me to learn how to drive this thing ::) ( first OB and first tunnel ). I was told something like a 28 pitch bravo would be a good all around starter prop for this thing, but I have no idea if thats right or not ?? I just know that this motor is not suposed to be able to spin high rpm like the new ones.
remind me, how much money do you have into this thing?
if memory serves me correctly, i think you stole the boat and motor for damn near nothing and got the motor running with little to no parts.
very cool.
and yes, get rid of the dildo. ;D
you need to put some motors like mine on the back of that thing...... ;D Or my other motor sitting in the corner....No! Twin's  way faster!I'm no outboeard expert but a couple of those should only set you back 30k to 40k :o :o

Pleshy, you need to come up here and buy this old motor. Its just what you need, for something. :screwy:
I'm no outboeard expert but a couple of those should only set you back 30k to 40k :o :otry 18k to 28k
try 18k to 28kWell 28 k is close to 30 ...I told you I was no expert O0. Keep us posted proppy er uh propless er uh. ;D
Hey Propped, ;D
You need to try a cleaver propeller and lift the ass of the boat some more, you're leaving the poker game with all your chips on the table....
That thing has the potential to fill your linens for sure
If you can get some transom lift with a cleaver, it will "tip toe" a lttle more and make it more comfortable and stable.
Gotta go to the old mans garage and see what pitch is sitting in there...What pitch you ruuning now and at what RPM?
Might as well make it fun for a while ;D
GT
Looks better already without that thing stuck to the back!
Proppy...are you going to set the intake yourself? What intake are you going with? Who is going to do the stringers? How far back are you going to set it(the intake)? Btw is there a question limit over here.lol
nice should be a fun build. hope you go with a rounded keel
nice gonna need some nice big hp to get her to move fastThere is a guy on pb running upper 90's with a daytona clone and under 700 horses. A cording to a berk chart I only have 500 or so hp....I can't fly her out. I'm 70 ish.
Hey Proppy...he goes by supersoaker. I wanna say his hull is made my millenium(sp) but don't quote me on that. His hull resembles the new style from the top. I couldn't tell you anything about the bottom. I'm sure you could pm him...or bounce the 21 thread and ask. Edit; Shoe would probably be the better one to ask if it was a worth while mod. I heard a while back that the older hulls were the faster of the 2....but maybe they were talking about the 19's....I can't remember. Personally, I don't think I'd mess with it.
you can thank skip later
Yea, THANKS SKIP !!!! Little Leo might want to come back to bako and visit you soon.

:o Holy crap....this thread's a classic. Sorry to hear proppy, damn dogs.lol Fwiw over on pb Kjell just hit 98mph with 700 hp. He started the season with 55 mph, and if I read it right, the only internal motor change he made was a cam shaft. I'm impressed...
Jeff-Skip those staples look nasty !! I just cant stand the sight of staples. Not that my road rash in the other thread looked any better. ;)
On the upside, you get to move where no one will f**k with you for having projects, and Leo will have room to roam. The bite is nothing too serious, about 1/2 dozen puncture wounds and one good rip, 3 freakin' staples in that one. To top it all off, it got one of my tattoos, that's ok, I'll just get more >:D
the strange knobs on the transom are for a ski bar ;DThats a scary thought. They where just bolted through the glass (no wood support behind them). I actually thought they where there to hook the cover to, somehow.
Hey proppy...there is a pretty good discussion on 21's intake(suction) pres. #'s and set up over at that other place in the GS section.
Well what about you Proppy, whatcha got going for yourself, inquiring minds want to know LOL
I dont know, The stupid Brendella tunnel is still sitting in the garage on a cart and I dont want to work on it. There are a few different things that might show up around here though. :-X
The SST is NOT yours! Storage only if we get to that point! :sly:

Got a sweet seat setup from a friend that has a 21 as he was going for light weight buckets.

Next up was to set the motor one last time to make sure we have the motor at the right height before breaking it down for powder coating.

Some safety criticism. Please don't take any offense, that is not the intent.
The throttle pedal should be mounted at a 75/25 ratio to the fulcrum point. If you have a throttle issue, cable stuck, broken return spring, bent linkage, whatever, you don't have a way to pull the throttle back, with a 75/25, with 25% of the throttle pedal being below the hinge point, you can "heel" the throttle back. In this case, i would recommend some sort of toe clip, this way you would be able to pull the pedal back with your toe...
GT
Awesome tip Glenn. THANKS! I would be easy to rig up a toe clip setup. Thanks again and send some warmth up here would ya?
Take care and keep up the good work. Oh, and punch that kid of yours in the arm for me.

ABSOULUTELY BITCHEN!!! Great work so far, cant wait to see it done
After setting our sights on being at the big hotboat show in Bremerton on Saturday, we thrashed non stop from Wednesday night and finished it Saturday morning at 9 am. We were in the water by 10 am and other than a leaking rubrail (that in the thrash we forgot to seal as we were installing it) it performed flawlessly.
Sure is nice to be coming to an end on this project.................... till the next change
