Holy crap....this thread's a classic. Sorry to hear proppy, damn dogs.lol Fwiw over on pb Kjell just hit 98mph with 700 hp. He started the season with 55 mph, and if I read it right, the only internal motor change he made was a cam shaft. I'm impressed...

 I think there's a bit more to it then just a cam change.  Its a motor from a different boat, a yellow boat that ran 104mph (see post #51), with a cam - intake- oil pan change.  But your 100% right, those are some damn impressive numbers with only 700hp in a 21' boat.  I bet he finds a couple more mph to get it over 100 without a bottle.

On the upside, you get to move where no one will f**k with you for having projects, and Leo will have room to roam. The bite is nothing too serious, about 1/2 dozen puncture wounds and one good rip, 3 freakin' staples in that one. To top it all off, it got one of my tattoos, that's ok, I'll just get more  

Skip those staples look nasty !!  I just cant stand the sight of staples.  Not that my road rash in the other thread looked any better.

Thats a scary thought.  They where just bolted through the glass (no wood support behind them).  I actually thought they where there to hook the cover to, somehow.

 The house seems to be OK tonight again, no signs or smells of moisture.  I think I got lucky by getting it cleaned up and dried out that night.

I dont know, The stupid Brendella tunnel is still sitting in the garage on a cart and I dont want to work on it.  There are a few different things that might show up around here though. 

The SST is NOT yours! Storage only if we get to that point!

Now that this beautiful boat is in the shop the more I fall in love with it.  The colors are so cool.  Currently swapping out the stringers and toe board bulkhead.  Probably fab up some gunnel supports too while I'm at it.  I dont want to mess up the light weight of it but I do want to make this the boat that Jan and I always dreamed about.

Figgr'd I would give an update.  Ton of work left to go but Ian and I are slowly making progress

Thought I would post up some progress on Proppys old boat.







After wasting a ton of time treating this boat like a car and preparing it that way, I learned that with Gelcoat, you dont do any of that.  Soooo, all the time spent smoothing, sealing and priming the transom, I ground that all back off 

I then attempted to forget what little I ever knew about spraying and shot some Gel.   Wow, I made my fair share of mistakes and was really unhappy with the appearance the next day but after blocking that down with some 400 grit, it looks fantastic.   Gelcoat is very cool stuff....just WAY different that spraying base coat/clear coat.

Got a sweet seat setup from a friend that has a 21 as he was going for light weight buckets.





Next up was to set the motor one last time to make sure we have the motor at the right height before breaking it down for powder coating.



And last night there was a break in the weather and we pushed it outside for a quick picture

For guys looking at this thread...

First off John, very impressive, this thing is going to be off the hook.

Some safety criticism.  Please don't take any offense, that is not the intent.

The throttle pedal should be mounted at a 75/25 ratio to the fulcrum point. If you have a throttle issue, cable stuck, broken return spring, bent linkage, whatever, you don't have a way to pull the throttle back, with a 75/25, with 25% of the throttle pedal being below the hinge point, you can "heel" the throttle back. In this case, i would recommend some sort of toe clip, this way you would be able to pull the pedal back with your toe...

Don't want to see any of you guys put in harms way because of a small oversight.

Would have had to of done it yesterday John, the weather sucks butt down here today. Supposed to get some snow in the Sierra mountains tomorrow. Old man winter has a few more tricks up his sleeves. We need a tad more water anyways.

After setting our sights on being at the big hotboat show in Bremerton on Saturday, we thrashed non stop from Wednesday night and finished it Saturday morning at 9 am.   We were in the water by 10 am and other than a leaking rubrail (that in the thrash we forgot to seal as we were installing it) it performed flawlessly.   

Sure is nice to be coming to an end on this project....................   till the next change
