Eliminator/Daytona project
« on: July 24, 2007, 02:15:00 AM »
Hello all
Due to problems with my old boathttp://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php/topic,800.msg13984.html#msg13984 I bought the Eliminator 21 in the project boat classifiedshttp://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php/topic,1212.0.htmlwith the idea of useing my old boats 460 and a berkeley jc pump that I have sitting in my garage.
Does anybody know if the hulls where the same for the jet and the outbourd ? This hull has realy small stringers, about 1 inch wide by 1.5 inch high :o and it has about a 6 inch fin mounted to the right side (sponson ?), with none on the left side  ??? .
Do you guys think this is a good idea or should I try to get that big ugly black thing hanging off the back of my pretty new boat to run  :( ?
By the way, my user name still fits , the outboard has no prop ;D

the stringers on my daytona jet are bigger than what you have, mine are about 1 1/2 wide by probably 5-6 high, i would thing that at the least you would need to replace yours with the bigger ones, but that is just my .02, there are guys on here with much knowledge than me--wait for them
.
ps---nice score on the boat, i wanted it, but the wife threatened to castrate me if i bought another project before forked up is done and in the water ;D

Eliminator never made a 21' daytona jet....only a 22' and a 19' ....that hull was never intended to be universal.

I am not saying it cant be done, but you might run into problems ...similar to the ones you are already seeing.

Youre going to have to put in new stringers (taller and wider apart)...cut a hole for an intake and ....wait....does it have a center 3rd sponsoon like this one...

if it doesnt, you might as well keep it as an outboat because thats going to be one HUGE project.....if the bottom is flat in the rear between the 2 sponsoons, the pump will not be low enough to catch water.

based on this picture, it looks like you may be in luck...

anyways...sorry for thinking out loud.....

its still a big project....new stringers, hole for intake, hole for pump....this isnt an easy task, it would take someone with experience and knows the daytona hulls inside and out.

good luck and congrats on the buy!

and welcome to the site!

I think you should sell it! I'll buy it! That boat with a rebuilt 300 would haul so much ass! It'd be a rocket! Ask goad about the 22' warlock with a 250 that weights twice that how fast it was....Call Eric Simon he'll hook ya up ;) You can thank me later and welcome to the site and "props" on the score... ;D

i cant believe im saying this either, but i'd keep the strap on power....its the easy way out too.

the hull was made to be an outboard....no telling how it will behave with a jet in it.

priceless

Sell me the boat! But I would just keep the 300. It should run. tune it up and go. If the guy left it for interior then it might have ran.

that was a good buy. glad to see that someone here bought it. Now we just need pictures of the project. there are 21' jet. I think eliminator had two different hull that were 21'  libator splashed it and they make jet, o/i and outboard hulls with that mold. buddy has a 21 jet. just my .02

Stay off Plesh's meds, they seem to slow you down.  ;)   :D

By the time you're done putting new stringers, jet pump, ligning everything up, getting the parts, uhggg... keep the outboard it'll be faster that way, have more interior room, and use less gas.

does it have a center 3rd sponsoon like this one...

Yes, it looks just like that, but maybe different dimentions. I'm going to take the Berkeley transom plate out to the boat later and see if it looks the same. :-\ I think the center sponsoon may be to narrow, the berkeley plate is 14.5 in wide and when I measered the hull yesterday I think it was only 12.5 in  >:( , but I realy cant remember and the boat is at my parents house, I need to do something with my old boat before bringing another project home  ;)

And yea I know the outboard will be faster, have more room, and use less fuel, but thay are BUT UGLY and sound downright UNAMERICAN !!  I WANT MY BIG BLOCK !! There's nothing better than pulling out the baffeles and wakeing up the whole lake at 7am  ;D ;D ;D
