My buddy wanted to get me into jet boats and got me started on this project. It's a 18ft California with 455 olds and jacuzzi jet. Don't know much about these boats but am learning as I go and have good friends helping. Boat sat since 09 and motor is stuck looks like head gasket failure on cylinder number 7. Upholstery is brand new and still wrapped never installed just mocked it up to see how it would look. Got a killer deal on the boat and everything.

Nice project, I don't know how set you are on keeping the 455. There are a couple of running 460's for sale right now. Nothing against a 455, they can just be hard to keep running right if you don't really know what you are doing. And they tend to need a little more time and practice to get right. A ford or chevy are little easier, so my understanding is...
Just my $0.02

Thanks for the input yeah that's what I have been hearing about these motors. I am not set in keeping it but budget is the problem don't have a lot to spend and really would like to get it on the water this season. How much are these 460s going for?

I'm on the iPad and little tipsy, makes it kind of hard to find stuff. But I think one of them was like $2200, in nor cal if I remember right. It was posted in here somewhere, last I saw it was about a week or so ago.

Haha it's all good. That's a little bit out of my budget. I think we will try our luck with the 455 unless I find something else for a good price that I can afford. I have a lead on a running 455 that I can afford so we will see what happens.

Well think I might be going with a 454 now. Got a buddy with one that is out of a vehicle. Could use a little advice on what I am going to need to get it into the boat and whatever else I might need.

Almost ready to drop the 454 into the boat. All I need is a PTO and flexplate or flywheel? If anyone has these parts that they are willing to sell it would be really appreciated. Thanks

I don't think we saved the steering box but I will find out for you. I am pretty sure it went to the scrap yard. And I am located in Ontario.

Verified with my roommate that it went to the scrap yard. Wish I would have known sooner I would have pulled it off. Would you be interested in selling your drive line?

Went to drop the 454 in the boat today and of course nothing can be as simple as it seems. We were thinking that the 4 point holes that are already in my stringers would just line up, but that's not the case. We have to come back a few inches and we are going to have to find a new oil pan. My oil pan is 9 inches from engine to bottom of pan, I am going to need to find one at least an inch shorter.

I think I am going to have to pass. Just found this one brand new for $55 shipped. I would just have to much fuel into coming out to hemet. Since I am located in Ontario. Really appreciate it though.

Thinking about selling the project. Not a hundred percent sure if I want to yet. It is pretty much ready to go all that is really left to do is wrap up the motor. Mount the logs and snails, mount the carb that was freshly rebuilt, run the water lines and fuel lines and maybe a couple more little things. Just want to see if anyone would be interested and what it's worth and if it would be worth me selling or keeping.

I have a complete 460. Still in boat running. And runs great. Can be ran, compression tested, ect... Before pulled. Planing on pulling it at the end of the week. And only because I have a built 427 going in. $1000. Located in yucaipa/ san bernardino. Complete motor. Will just need dropped in, plumbed and wired.

So I have decided I am going to sell the boat. I would take $2000 or trade for a 450 quad or maybe a 400 or some sort of sand toys
