Title: Flooring

Re doing the flooring in this section of the boat because I found a soft spot. Should be fun! Not

So I found a huge lake going on under the subfloor in this one spot and the foam and wood under it was also soaked...I have a feeling that the center stringer may also be rotted under the fiberglass, is it worth it to cut it open in one spot maybe a few inches just to see the wood under the glass to see if it's rotten? And if it were to be rotted what should be my next step?

Bleh... Gnarly.

First. Keel beam. Not stringer.

You have a couple choices.

How are the motor mount stringers?

If the keel beam is rotted,  don't seal it back up. It needs to go.

Remove as much of the wood as you can.  You can use pry bars to peel the layer of fiberglass from the edges.

This would be a good time to go full stringer, it is a bit of work.

If you went full stringer,  you could leave the floor out. I always liked a removable panel for the floor. Easy to keep clean. Up to you really.

You could always just replace what was there,  the engineering is already done.

Although it might cost more and take longer i might just go full stringers for the extra strength, and leave the floor out because I think it will look better. I'm going to have to learn how to do all of this one way or another so I might as well do it while I'm young so it gets stuck in my head 👍🏻️
