Ford 302 Cam Selection HELP
« on: May 29, 2024, 01:32:23 PM »
Hey guys, I have a 1994 ski centurion 16". Mid mounted engine, water cooled. Cracked the indmar block! So, I picked up a 302 with a fresh rebuild, GT40 heads, roller rocker block. My question is on the cam shaft. I cannot seem to find decent information on the selection to prevent water reversion. The cam in the engine is a comp 35-308-08, 114 lobe separation, 40 degrees of overlap, 266 intake duration, 270 exhaust deration, intake/exhaust duration at 0.050 inch lift is 210/215. What do you guys think? The COMP tech seemed to think this would be fine for my application. RPM range is at 1200-5200.
Thanks.

I keep it under 235 degrees at .050" on a small block Chevy with logs and snails, with no issues.
Sbf and center riser exhaust I'd imagine? Your numbers look good for that. I'd run it.

We really cant tell you without knowing the exhaust on the engine.   Seems pretty tame especially with the 114 lsa

Are you having problems with reversion or looking for piece of mind?

Being a ski centurion, it likely has center riser manifolds. I doubt logs and snails. And not water injected headers,  which would be cool, like a cracker box, but not very practical. Some ski inboards even had single exhaust on a V8.

OPs cam choice is conservative.
Run it.
