Well, i was gonna take a used 455 and rebuild it so it would survive in th water at high rpm. Not cost effective! Then thought about a BBC but again, cost of everything needed t do th swap. Well, saw a 18' at lake Mead and was running a 4.6 DOHC. Looked, sounded beautiful and it is fast enuf for me. Just shy of 70 on GPS. He made everything himself and agreed to help me. Under 3K for everything! Engine, ignition, mounts, headers... And he runs all day on around 6 gallons of fuel. If it works as well as hoping, will do same to my 21' Glen Coe also. Will keep everyone posted. You can see his engine on YouTube under Dr DOHC.

interesting, that thing moves along pretty well. This is a bitchin idea, you may have created a revolution in the jet boat industry haha. I wonder how much one of those costs :o

Yes, that's th one. But now it has full custom over transom headers that r ceramic coated w custom baffles. Runs a Holley 570 Street Avenger Carb.
I really like th idea of a supercharger on one. He has a Turbo that I may use instead of custom headers. And he has a blower from a Cobra that he may put on his for experimentation.
-
Filterbiz, I just saw th Predator carbs!! I haven't seen those in about 20yrs!!
-
Quick update, got the engine and Carb. Ignition ordered. Manifold, mounting plates are being machined. More to come.
-
Nice, keep it up man.
-
Update, engine is tgether and mounts made. Using Zoomies instead of traditional headers. Same ones he has in his video. They are baffeled and he notices no difference in power between them and headers. Decided not t go w/turbo, wanna keep it simple. Waiting for PTO so we can align and mount engine. Also waiting for dual feed fuel line and throttle bracket. Should be in and running by Fri nite! Keeping fingers X'd.

My phone takes pics that r too big t post. The boat on craigslist is my buddy Marvin. He is th one who turned me on to this. It is in and running strong. 42mph on all original '76 Berkeley pump w A impeller and one piece bowl. Now comes th jet modifications. Our other friend is running 69mph on GPS w pump mods. I hurt my back pretty bad so I haven't been able t get out to it and try to take smaller pics. As for ignition, its using a MSD6A. Marvin has th timing details and jetting info.

KaOtic, yes his has a panther pump. Our other friend has a purple n white boat w/a Berk.
Yes, using th coil over plugs. He has a timing curve programed that works great in w/this set up. He can be contacted at drdohc@cox.net his name is Marvin. He also makes th intake manifold which he holds the patent to and the spacer. He has the front and rear mounting plates, waterpump blockoff.
It's not cheap, wat is, but once all the supporting hardware in in place then if something goes wrong w/engine its just a cheap engine replacement.

Here's a pic. Attached as an expandable thumbnail.

Yes, it loud!! Has baffles, but still have t wear earplugs!! Ordering 12" long glasspacks and see of that helps.

Question, pump is stock '76 JC w/one piece bowl. I'm looking at going t a C cut impeller. The back of th boat sits about 5 inches higher now w/the 220-240lb diet. Should I get a stuffer plate, how about a diverter? Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks. Goal is to run in 65ish range. Wanna b able t cruise at 50 on smooth water.
