Title: Gas tank install
Post by: beerjet on March 20, 2008, 07:06:27 PM
So I have this bow tank that KonaDan gave me . Its made of stainless steel . The deal was , I was gonna use for ski racing since it holds considerably more than my roundy tank . Is it gonna be OK exposed under the sun and in front of my motor . Haven't decided how I'm gonna vent the tank yet , either through a flip top fuel fill or another type of venting method . I could just as easily build an uphostered cover for it if it's even worth it . Anybody .....  :banghead:

i dont know about the exposure part...with it being SS i wouldnt imagine it being a problem though...as far as the vent goes i would run some sort of a line out of the tank and keep any vapors or excess fuel from getting on the drive or motor...i have seen some set-ups on drag cars where the line comes out of the fuel cell and coils then goes down...hince the coils stopping anything from getting back in there...im probably way off but hell i gave her a shot

I should get a picture so you can see the madness that goes through my head . The heat being my main concern with 20 or so gals of gas right behind me .

dirtbikes are a tough plastic tank that you practically sit on...i personally thing covering it would make it look cooler as well, but you should post pics up of the tank and your ideas...what if you mounted it where the passenger seat goes?

Ski racing is a team effort and part of the team involves an observer who sits backwards in that very spot .
