Title: Hardin marine log exhaust cleaning

 I bought a 455 olds and a junk sale to rebuild it and drop in a boat that I recently purchased. I pulled apart the exhaust manifold and found that the water jackets are filled with rust and calcium. Does anyone have any tips on how to clean out the water jackets? Any tools I should buy or chemicals to put inside?

CLR? That seems like a good way to break down the calcium and rust.

I have recently been introduced to Evapo-Rust and I am thoroughly impressed.  I got it at McFadden-Dale.

The Zep scale remover that you can buy at Lowes and The Depot kicks CLR's butt. Cheaper too.

Ammonia will likely clear the white corrosion deposits you're talking about,  it's aluminum oxide,  likely not hard water.
