Hang on Tommy. I'm trying to download a video.  Unfortunately, when I was making the bulk of my passes, nobody was filming but we do have this one. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

John,

How high be the bow matey..(Practicing for pirate day  ;D) .

I'm certain it's not a lack of grunt.... :screwy:

Sometimes I have seen loaders make an insane difference in how the hull rides and keeps the pump suckin'...Just a WAG though...

Here's a video Glenn

I cant recall if this pass is in the second from the top or third from the top on the diverter handle but you can see that about 6 seconds in, you can damn near see my intake.....

Here's a short video. 6 seconds into it you can see that damn pump intake.  Unfortunately, when I was making the bulk of my passes, nobody was filming but we do have this one. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It seems to be brandnew. Didnt seem to have it earlier in the summer and I'm sure much is due to the rollers that we all were dealing with BUT, everyone else seemed to be able to work thru it but me.  This was in the second notch from the top on the diverter. I also tried it on the third notch but that clearly was dragging the nose more.

I think I have rabies or something, can't get the vid to work (it's Mikes fault  ;D)

It is time to let it hang    Sorry, read Droop...

Okay, I'm a bit frustrated.  Seemed like over the weekend I couldnt keep the damn thing in the water long enough to keep it loaded.  As a recap, this is a Energized Panther with a SS AA impeller. No droop and the ride plate set at 2.4 degrees.

Any ideas of where I might be able to start???

Do you normally get to drive it solo like that, or with a passanger?  The extra weight of a passenger could make the difference between  porpoise and no porpoise.  Just a thought

Hi Josh,
I "almost" always am solo when I run it hard.  I did run it hard with Droppy in the boat so between my 6'3' 250lbs and Droppys 6'6' 290lbs weight, it definately stuck to the water better.

And now thinking about it and this pic from a previous post of mine, you can see how high my boat is riding with the diverter down even more (check roost)

Hmmmmm,

You have yoo much bowlift....Down wedge?

You don't need to make a huge roost to go fast, in fact it's quite the contrary..

The highest roost our 90 MPH river jet made (vee hull, not tunnel) was about 5-6' tall, the hull really aired out to the point of hairy....

Do you have a ride plate? looks to me like a degree or two of down ride plate would do wonders.... ???

Agreed Glenn, this thing carries the bow like a mutha and runs so dry it's wierd.  I'm not a big fan of the roost either and usually have run it in the 3rd from the top notch on my diverter handle which put the diverter inline with the pump.  The shot with Brian in the boat is actually one click down on the diverter.

I do have a ride plate that's set 2.4 degrees in relation to the keel.  I don't have a wedge or droop.

The search for the good tune continues......   Thanks again...........john

Is that 2.4 degrees up or down ? I am running my Nordic 2.0 degrees up and I think I need a droop.

IMHO I would start to inch it down (the "inch" not being literal  :sly: )

I think it would react well to either "0"* or slightly down. worth a shot and virtually free.

Thanks Glenn.  You've jumpstarted my memory (which isn't easy).  This year with the new motor I moved the ride plate up to it's present location (2.4) thinking (there I go again) that with the new momo it would love to lean back and let her eat.  Maybe with my boat, the pump setup AND the new gorrilla behind the seat it's too much lift......

Now I need some decent weather to try it out....

Thanks for the help......john

Yep Tommy. Now that I think about it, new mobigger motor, AA impeller, slid the motor forward 3" and set the rideplate at 2.4 up.
Crap, I hadn't realized how much I changed at once till after Glenn got me thinking.

John weight distribution is vastly critical on these boats , also the AA will IMO create "tail lift" along with the bigger bite and hopefully a Mad holeshot (with all that new Blower motor power your makin) so its "back to the drawing board" Grampa Jrork !

just think this way , unless your serene with the status quo , and want to leave it that way (stock boat stock jet etc etc) Everything on these boats to some degree will be an expirement (trail and error)

Pops, the weather up here has gone in the toilet (for the most part) so I gotta have something to do over the winter.  Let's talk about next steps.   PS, the holeshot is BADASS....... ;D

Your weather "up there" ,no wonder Krut Cobian did wht he did , between the weather and Courtney geez .........
any way I'm thinkin nozzle size (larger) to relieve some of that "charging" and a few other minor changes we'll work it out!! have ya drilled and tapped the suction yet Bro ? Bad weather give more time to "chill" and play with the babies anyhow  ;)

Hi John I have just read your entire storey and it has inspired me. I just picked up a 1976 Pioneer (pics in boat showcase) and am starting a complete renovation like you have done on a smaller scale. No major motorwork or pump work at this point but from the wheels up everything else totally redone. I am chemically stripping the hull first and then lots of paint and my artist wife has designed graphics as well. I was real interested to read about polishing paint as I have never done this and was considering having someone else do it but now I feel that i will try it Im sure that I will need to pick your brain alot this winter .I had already ordered all my paint from tcp Global before I read your story  Thanks Gord

Nice Tommy!!!!

Here's some video from our day on the water yesterday.

Both Ian and I found that in fact, it liked the diverter full up but still we had porpous issues.

Seemed like with the diverter up, I could power through the worst of it......to a point....

Best I could pull the AA impeller was 5400 and was scratching my head where my extra HP went till when I was cleaning the boat I found #4 plug wire off.    Ran pretty damn hard on 7 cylinders  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
