Prior to getting ready to shoot some single stage on the bottom I thought I would mock up the old housing just for grins and I saw a gap between the hull and the housing. It's located dead center and the tightens up to no gap on the sides. The drill bit is a 3/64 and it's a touch smaller than that to give you an idea.

Now I realize that we bed the housing in some goey stuff but is that gap gonna be too much? I'm tempted to close it up but thought I would run it by you all and see if Rork's being too picky again..........

Also kinda wonder if I found my cavatation problem on the old pump, hmmmm......

Crap, couldn't stand it. Layed some epoxy and cloth in there. Layed on some PPG DP40 epoxy to seal it all up and I think all I'll need is a thin skim of some Evercoat Rage Gold to make her purdy. Bound to be better if there's no gap to fill with goey stuff.

Here's a pic of it with another layer of glass and epoxy and then another after the DP40 applicaton... gotta love that itch from fiberglass dont you?

Much Better!!!

Little bit of Rage Gold and then some Icing around the edges and it's smoooooooth

The 3 quarts of Single Stage and the Speed Coat is ordered for the bottom so we'll be kruzin soon..

Thanks Greg. Appreciate that compliment. I'm pretty much standing down till the paint and speedcoat I ordered comes in. Then all hell breaks loose.
Can't wait to get some paint on there that I'm not planning on sanding off (for a while

)

Also for those of you who are interested (which I suspect is none besides me), here's a picture of the "spoon" that is molded into the stock Panther intake.

Thats been the point of many descussions and it's nice to see one correctly done versus someones interpretation .

Thanks Beerjet. I would really like to search this concept out as in theory I think it's a great idea. Clearly I dont think the "conventional" mod's will produce the same results as a Berk intake but deep down, I really think the concept is good. With that said, I've been wrong more times in life than I've ever been right....

I was woundering how the boat builders could have such a deep inlet run, but with the spoon, it all makes sence

I know how you feel. Seems we haven't had much of a summer here either. We haven't had the rain or really high winds just cooled way down really quick. So much for global warming.

Okay, here's an update

First is with the sealer. It's PPG DP40LF with some 401 catayst and a splash of DT860 Reducer to seal everything up. As Greg has pointed out, supplies are limited in this neck of the woods so I settled with what they had (DP40) instead of the DP48 which would have been white and would have allowed the bright white to cover that much quicker

I let that cook off for 2hrs and then began laying on the Concept Singlestage. Crappy weather (4" to 6" of rain and wind) makes it so I have to snap the pics inside the shop but hopefully it'll give you an idea of what it looks like. I gotta admit, it looks gray in the pictures but iit's n fact is bright white.

Keep after it. If I'm fortunate to be able to make this come out okay in the end, ANYBODY can do it! Hell, I'm making this stuff up as I go so there's no reason why somebody else can't do it (and have it come out better) so keep after it.

Oh, I'll keep going since this is all I can do for right now anyway. I was hoping to get in the water at least once when the motor gets back but who knows what the weather is going to be like in a week.

By the way, this stuff is NASTY......yuk. Definately gotta have respirators and crappy clothes
