Happy New Years everybody and thanks for all the misguided support........ps, I sanded the deck and blue back and am respraying.....I know, I'm a dumbazz but there were a couple nits that bugged me :-\ :-\ :-\ :'(
[/size]

Just curious John, what size tip you are using for spraying the clear and base?
Plus some of the paints are very low hiding and require more than two coats to get coverage...  was that a problem?
They sould have told you if the paint was low hiding before you bought it!  and if you find any little dust particals in the clear when your done,
Don't wory...  they will buff out, just do it before your clear hardens fully.

Thanks Rebel. I'm using a 1.4 tip. The blue was very low hiding but after talking to them and getting a tip by 1/2ing the reducer and using some activator it covered much better. Unfortunately, I had some issues of the SharkSkin overspray plastic marbleing the blue that I just can't let slide. Sanded it back with some 1000 grit and am going to fog on 1 or 2 coats to see if I can bury the marks left from trying to get rid of the marbleing.

Well, not that it can't be done, but the norm for baseclear is a 1.6-1.8 tip, still, you should make a beauty job with that tip.
Wish they told ya about the low hiding, and a extra coat of base always looks better with hardner  ;)...   now as far as plastic goes
GRrrrrrrr is all I can say. Unless its cleaned well, specialy after sanding (it releases the oils inside) it always makes a mess. Even the pro's
sand it down from time to time to build on again. Seems some people don't tell their painters they used Armorall on the Tires  ;D   (BIG MESS)

Still have to say your boy did a great job of taping...  and once that clear hits the flat base you lay down, You'll be smilin at all that hard work  ;D
She's going to look great...    can't wait to see what else makes her shine,  lol.
Did someone say...  BLOWER?    nice  O0

Hang in there guys with the crappy storm. We got our butts handed to us last night but it looks better and should be perfect Washington weather (rain & wind) by Kickoff time for the Hawks vs. the Redskins.

Blue is sanded and is ready to be re-applied. The repair was so minor but I just couldnt let it slide.  I'm thinking one coat will probably cover but I'll probably shoot another just to be sure the metallic is laying properly.  Then it's time to lay on the clear.

Take care everybody and keep your head down....

Rob,
You doing ok up there on the island?

No worries guys...   if the rains don't stop...   I've got a boat  ;D
Might be nice (and faster) to boat to work and slip into the loading bay to park  ;)...  keep her out of the rain  :D

Just a small curious question John...  but are you spraying back to back (within 30 minutes or so) between coats...  or sanding?
FYI it's always best to go from coat to coat... then clear without sanding, given enough time between coats!  Stronger bond and all.
As long as the product is of same chemical make up,  thus base clear!

and No...  lol, not snowed in Tom,  whew...  just alot of liquid sunshine here  ;D

Can't wait to see your next pics John!

No worries Rob.  I've got a timer in the shop and I set it for 45 minutes per the manufacter between coats. All of this material is SPI and I love it.  Barry Kive is the MAN! Not only the owner and chemist of SPI, but has a ton of experiace spraying and has been a huge help to me.  I'm to the point where if Barry says to shoot my watchmacallit bright orange, I'd do it in a heart beat.

Next step clear...........
