Installing Berkley intake

I recently bought a 21' Witchcraft that was set up for a Jacuzzi pump I think. The one that mounts to the transom. I have a Berk intake I wan to install as the pump and motor in my existing boat are good. I have done some research on the net to see how it is done and it looks fairly simple. If anyone has done this before and has some advise I would be very grateful. I'm sure there are some little things to watch out for. I have plenty of glassing experience but don't want to have to do it twice.

Make sure you do some research on the angle at which your intake is set. Use sea going epoxy and set it back

You will have to glass the whole intake hole in and cut a new hole. The jacuzzi intake hole is much bigger and the holes don't line up. If the intake is cut for a shoe, put the biting edge of the shoe about 1/8 above keel, you can set the intake from 4 degrees to 4.4 degrees. but no more than 4.4
Also make sure things are nice level from side to side. its an easy thing to do but just very tedious. Good luck bud.

I've read that build thread and it has to be one of the best , it's a shame what happened to that boat.

That looks like a Berkeley e pump set up. You have your work cut out for t hhat change. The transome will have to be fixes and the whole bottom will need to be cut out. Possible just a lot of work.

I don't think the berks tapered to a point like that. I think it's a panther

I think the guy did say it was a panther. Going to start cutting out hopefully this week. Thanks for all the great advise. I'll post more pics as i progress.

I have a extra panther pump if you don't want to cut all that out and then re-fiberglass everything in

This is a good Idea...and use it as a family cruise/tube/ski boat. (and I'm not a fan of Panther pumps, but they will pump concrete [almost])
Get a bubble deck or similar to "pour in the funds/horsepower".

A Berkeley conversion would be easier on this than would be a Jacuzzi.

Do you have some measurements of that bulge?

I am thinking that with some pre planning and very little surgery you could get a Berkeley intake to fit quite nicely.

I guess ultimately it depends on how much in love with the boat you are.

Daniel, I may consider that maybe you could give me a call if you have a second so we could discuss. 909 376-6751. I was only going to use the Berkley I have because I had it rebuild when I rebuilt the 455 and I know it is in good shape just wanted a bigger hull. It is all stock so she starts up every time and gives no problems.
GT Jets I will get a layout and see how they go together. I'll post my drawing for all.
