Title: More Running Video of the BBC 8-71 EFI Project
Post by: TJS Nordic on June 21, 2009, 08:07:18 AM: This is a huge learning curve at the keyboard with the Accel DFI stuff. I still have to get this thing in the boat, but it has been raining for over two weeks here. My Old Man is into it too.

Post by: TJS Nordic on June 22, 2009, 06:05:39 PM: Thanks. I got the tanks out yesterday (feels like the 10th time) once again to modify. I am going to make a crossover and return to one tank. The crossover allows me to run only one feed to the water separator and the EFI pump. Adding the cross-over makes 2 tanks act as one. I got this idea when I worked for a vintage race car business (clown) where they had a Lola that had two tanks but used a cross-over. It has been raining here for almost 20 days in June. Feel like Washington State. I need 2 good days to get the pump apart and replace it with the stainless impeller I have. Then once I get the grate set up with through bolts I will be ready to put the engine in.

Hey!!!! Actually, we've had unseasonably warm weather. We even dipped into the 90s this month and set records all over the place temp wise and went over 30 days without rain.

Now if my damn boat would be done, I'd be thrilled..... :banghead:

Well, get out there and GET-ER-DONE! 8) Heck, I'll have the Tahiti done before you at this rate and it's not even started yet.

Post by: TJS Nordic on July 01, 2009, 03:38:57 PM: I had to weld 3/4 NPT aluminum fittings close to the bottom of the tanks for the crossover hose. Also welded another fitting for the return to one tank. It is fun welding on tanks that had fuel in them. NOT. Prepping the tanks and purging is the key to stay alive. This is some scary shit when first pressing the TIG machine pedal.

Also got the pump apart to change the impeller from Cast Aluminum "B" cut to a stainless "A" cut impeller. That should be done later this week. I am also re-painting the bilge with gel-coat. That should be done by the weekend. Then the engine goes in. The weather has been a big set back with all this freakin rain.
