How close are your stringers to being centered with your steering wheel? Did a Rogers this week. The problem I didn't like was the outside edge of the stringer is 4" inside of the steering wheel centerline. I wanted to have aluminum angle on each side and bolted through the stringer. I ended up using a 5" x 5" x 3/8" angle with one leg cut down to 3.5" and mounted to the outside of the stringer. This provided no room to mount any angle on the inside of the stringers, and gain substantial mounting to the seat, because so little of the seat overhangs to the inside. When Chris sat in the seat, I observed substantial flexing of the stringer. So much so that bouncing around in rough water could rip the stringers right out of the hull.
It looks like we are going to glass in a piece of wood, similar to the picture in dat1dsm's post. What concerns me about this is that, having spoken to a few Rogers owners, the weight concentrated on that small surface causes cracks in the hull.
If you are not scared of a little glass work, I would consider building a box to mount the seats to. I would laminate a 1/4" piece of plywood to the hull to spread the load and tie it into the chine area for maximum strength. An opening in the seat bottom would allow through bolting rather than wood screws. A removable seat cushion would also make for convenient storage of tools and such. This is not an option for me in this boat because the entire floor was redone and gel coated and I don't see the owner green lighting grinding and reglassing his freshly restored interior.
