1977 Southwind Tunnel Dragster
Berkeley pump (mpd) w/place diverter, shoe and ride plate.
Stock 454 (1974 Suburban) short block
Rail kit, cav plates, possible calgo steering(have brand new calgo just need to learn how to install?)

I have a set of 781 heads that were on the motor, open chamber, 113cc
I also have a set of 3872702 heads from a 396, closed chamber, 98.4cc
My block has the stock flat tops and I want to use the 702s to gain more compression without changing the pistons. Anybody know if those heads will work with my stock flat tops?

I'm going to be using a Weiand Team G high rise manifold with a Holley 780 DP.
I have a family friend that runs Crower(owners grandson) so I'm going to talk to him about cam and valve train combo. Any suggestions?
I will be running basset OT's. Before I got them they were ran as dry headers and they're not pretty but they will work.

Does everything sound right so far? I guess I am fishing for some advice and pointers here.

Got the motor mocked up. Im going to take my heads in tomorrow to get checked and cleaned. If they will work with my bottom end? I need to do some stringer repairs. The last 3 feet towards the transom is dry rot. Will I be OK just replacing that section if I make a strong joint and glass it in real well? Epoxy resin right? Not polyester. I'm using a rail mount system?

Stringer repair is almost done. Two or three more layers of glass and the fiberglass will be done. Its all down hill from here. If I have time today I will set the intake. If I get my heads back on Monday, I'm going to hit it hard all week to get the motor in and wired up, so I can take her with me to Fisher's this weekend. I want to have all the kinks worked out so I'm ready for the regatta next month.

It would have been nice if I was good enough to do it all in one shot. I've had to sand it twice already, but it has to be clean. And strong of course.

You think she's on your back now? Try to convince her it'll be easier to get it done now before the baby arrives.

Thanks. This will be my second kid and my second boat, with two more projects in line. I've got a Tahiti down at fishers, an eliminator hull and a vdrive in the driveway. I have most of the parts to finish both of the other projects, so I'm really going to go for this winter!

One more finish coat of resin, then a little sand and buff and the glass will be done. Looks decent for my first time.
