Just picked this Kustom Kraft mini day cruiser up cheap. the boat has been sitting for thirteen years and has no motor but is set up for a 454. this is my second build and thanks to this bad ass site i have learned a bunch. want to thank all the guys that post all there info and know how on here so all us guys that live in the middle of the country can learn. god knows there aint alot of these boats around here where I live. let me know what you think of the new float.

my wife likes to lay on the front of the bow but with the rail there it makes it hard. I still cant decide though, I like the rail but I have seen several without and like them. Guess I will flip a dam coin. going to start working on it tonight, there is so much trash and leafs in this damn thing. I will post more pics tonight.

I like a clean boat without clutter on it like bow rails, rub rails, cleats, bimini mounts, etc.

It is functional. I like mine of course bc I have open bow and have to have mine.

nice cruiser red snapper slapper. I believe im going to ditch them rails, thanks for all the help by the way guys. stripper pole did sound pretty good lmao. I really like this cruiser with no rails and all cleaned up.

That cruiser is the same as my boat just different colors v-drive as well it's toms @ jet boat performance

If you ditch the rail, it will take 10+ years of aging off the boat.
Its nice to grab and inch it up on the sand once in a while. If you gotta walk it through some shallows and have current, it will be handy.
They would've looked so much better if they died it into the gel a few feet from the bow light like they did in the late eighties to early nineties.
My pops had a Hallett built in 89. The year prior, the bow rails came to meet at a point like yours.
Anyway, form over function, ditch it. It will look a lot better, but there may be a time or two when you will miss it.
Moving on, how's the gel surface? Colorsand and buff or slap a coat of wax?
The swimsteps look like they can use some help. Hit up GT Jets, he knows what to buy from Jamestown distributors to make them look new.

Some sanding and good old Mineral oil is all those steps look like they need........badly.
Stripper pole arguement not withstanding, what Big Johnson said. They're very handy for that, tie-ing off mooring bumpers at the dock or a big regatta floating downriver, the sunbathers can get cooled off then climb right back on when floating, when beached you can toss a baby up there in a blanket to nap and they ain't gonna roll off and drown, Beer won't fall off the deck, you can hang towels on it to dry, hang kids when they need it,
I just don't see a down side other than these guys saying "I like the clean look".
Have you SEEN some of these guys!!! (myself included!!)

If you decided to open up the bow you could keep them, but otherwise need to go like the "Mt. St. Baker's" engine cover (as Ray named it) on my boat lol. Nice looking project!!!

This bow rail discussion is getting deep. Iirc, Nordic454 made some billet caps to plug the holes and they were anodized and looked good.

Actually, that's a good idea! have a few things here Brandon made. Kid is a master fabricator! Another would be to carve the locations out, or at least some of them, for pop-up cleats lke these.

well I removed the rails and I do like it better. I also started stripping all the interior out of the boat and I have been curious as hell to find out if there was any water under the floor. Drilled a hole and found water under the floor like I thought because the boat seemed heavy. So here we go again lol started tearing up the floor and scraping foam.

Picked up my new 454 today. Super stoked to get this thing in the water. Got the floor all ripped out and the pump painted and put back together.

Got the motor in today, floor is all glassed in, and been buffing the boat. Starting to come together I cant wait for summer.

Been working on the boat just about every weekend. Did some airbrushing on the dash to cover up some flaws till I get it painted next year.

Waiting on some more parts to be delivered to finish up a few things before I start on interior. It's been a budget build for sure but looking better than I expected.

What did you use for the holes for the bow rail ? Looks like dimond plate .....been wanting to remove mine but just wasnt sure how i wanted to finish it.

Thanks jet junky. I Did use diamond plate. I plan on painting it next winter so wanted something that looked better than having holes but wasn't real expensive. Looks better than I thought it would.

Just wondering What the deal is with kustom kraft boats? I know it was a company out of Texas that burnt and they never re opened. I just never really heard or seen any other. any body have any other info?

It must be so cool to know how to airbrush whatever you want. I love the look. The only airbrushing I know is when I take my girls nail polish for touch ups. :banghead:

Thanks rocky, been playing around with a airbrush for years. just mostly do my own shit. I Did a couple of golf carts I built and some stuff in my shop. I'll throw up a few more pics.

Thanks man. The only thing about painting some shit is where I live. I live in south east Missouri. Would have to ship, then ship back when done and Hope they didn't get fucked up. I was actually born in Anaheim California and wished I still lived there.

Pretty close to being done with my float. I have about 38 hundred in the total build. Need to take it out one more time to make sure everything is Good. Took it out once and it didn't run right do to a cracked fuel line. Only thing left is trailer.

Been a while since ive been on here. Trying to catch up on reading everything. Couple of pics from this weekend. Boat has been better than I would have ever thought. Did some adjustments to the ride plate and its dam near perfect. Thanks for all your guys help
