Welcome to the site  ;D

There is a Wriedt or two on the boards, and I sure someone will chime in soon.

As far a poor performance, you need to do a couple checks before you start looking for a replacement engine and jet.

Check the condition of the engine (compression, timing, tune-up), and overhaul the carb if it has been setting for any lenth of time.

Have the jet inspected.

Then start looking for a blown big block to stick in it  ;D

she runs pretty good, but ~ i hate getting passed by the kayakers paddeling there little arms off. lol actually, my uncle has a boat and hes a little faster than me. he has an A/B jet and he laughs as he passes me. i do also have another boat, paper work says, Day cruiser. 454, 2-speed trans and v- drive. only had it in the water for 15 minutes. started the day off with a carb fire, then no water pump. i was hotter than the boat. did about 5 laps till she turned off. didnt blow the engine, havent taken it since getting every thing fixed.

Day cruiser. 454, 2-speed trans and v- drive.

Are you interested in getting rid of the daycruiser?

I have an 18' Wreidt.  Seems to be a more on the family boat side than the go-fast side of the hulls available.  I guess that just means it need more power >:D

thats the idea. bigger is better!! im talking about a high rise and cam. tomorrow ill run the id and actually see what i have. ill start getting some info, and begin buying every thing i need. come november ill pull out the motor and be ready for next year.

yes, i do have 2 speed boats. and no im not yet interested in getting rid of the day cruiser? that may be the only way i can go FAST!!

am interested in learning about jets though. its my understanding no matter how much power you have, if you cant push the water youll never go any where!
