Don't expect this one to take off very soon, but as some of you know this was Pat's boat "thanks Pat" this will be a slow work of progress, but it was time for me to step-up as my tahiti was not liking the new motor/pump combo at all the Tahiti rand 74 mph which is respectable...
So here it is
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0196.jpg&hash=80bfb9b885d2eebbcacc26084750b0cafaa85720)

The boat is going to need a little bit of fiberglass work, im going to close the access hole on top of the pod, and redo the dash from some gauge holes being filled, im not sure if i am going to add any gauges or mount them on a cool guy plate...this boat will be rigged to run strong, and i plan on still using it as a lake boat, so it will be getting a splash gaurd!
Today i stuck the new donor pump into the boat, to free up some space...that will be rebuilt using my new impeller from my berkeley rebuild, the berkeley will get an a impeller put back into it for the new owners power "whoever that may be"
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0198.jpg&hash=01b0b6083e169755acf8e3b82ab7ac6c5d04bbc0)
and this part is going to be addressed, pat explained this to me yesterday on the phone!

Josh I guess I need to start a project thread on my turd and we can "dual it out" and see who gets done first! ;D
-
your alot closer then me, but ur project will definately get peoples attention!
-
Cool, it made it there in one piece.
Sorry about the deck Josh...I didn't think it was that bad until I hosed it off Sunday morning. Lemme know what the color sand/buff will cost and I'll handle it (within reason).....
I found you a steering wheel last night...still looking for the adapter....I know there's more, I've got a box going for ya.

Yea, but I'm handicapped.....(MONEY!) you've got a job! LOL I'm betting on you :)

Saw this over on RD's last night and was wondering how long it was going to take for it to pop up over here. Bummer that Pat had to get rid of it, but it's cool that it was able ro go to another SCJB member. Good luck Nordie, and keep us posted.

pat it aint no big deal, got me a good sanding guy that works for a reasonable price, cause knowing me a will fugg it up, dont worry about a cost to you, the boat is in my hands now...so long as you find the cav plates lol! I have almost been considering a wrap as well, something that would have about a million crazy colors!
-
Very cool Josh
If you get serious about a wrap let me know. I have a friend that does some incredible work. He has done some wake barges but wants to do some classic jet type boats.
-
good stuff man, i like the colors.
-
Got sumpin for it too Nordie! ;)

alright so with all my time off, and no money i decided i could get started on this project! STRIP IT! and cleaned up the inside of the hull to see what i am working with
Dash is stripped! We'll get to the extensive work i am going to have to do in this area shortly
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0224.jpg&hash=ec33a08e59acdeaade272cd8036958d62b90a87c)
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE CRAZY 8's See you later 8 Ball!!!
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0203.jpg&hash=bb0d23d5a978c29b01522f3342ad891ac576f900)
Ok Back to the dash, obviously there has been some "engineering" done here so here it goes
first pic is another stripped pic
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0204.jpg&hash=2e8c019cd72a553f37d2a1db673d7ad46ec31021)
second when you remove the helm should there really be a 5/8 piece of plywood coming off with it? I was shocked too!
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0205.jpg&hash=84412f7ffec3883a6efad6805fd5ebc462782261)
Next is my box of parts so i have all the good stuff all in a box, the wiring harness is new and clean! it will be reused...just nordiefied! hey i like that!
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0206.jpg&hash=666019280d943439d3d092a4568107d0a8f506a1)
Back to the dash, notice something missing? Yeah me too!
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0209.jpg&hash=7746539990436f8842a2436a1baead879a736001)
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0210.jpg&hash=bb62b75650212a395d8876805214ebe2e2bb0180)
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0211.jpg&hash=9f3c0a120d2bb4eec3b49ebe75c5fe22018687e8)
The lack of wood! This lies my first quesion, what the hell am i going to do here? Im thinking im gonna make some really nice 1/4 or 3/8's play and put it back under there! It's crazy how much this dash flexes, guess im just used to a solid heavy ass boat...Also i am wondering what i should do with the old existing gauge holes? looks like they are about to fall out!!!!! i would like to relay up the dash and seal them off, and put all my gauges to the right with angled bezels!
And here is the boat mostly stripped, only things left are the tanks, and the pump held in by one bolt, i did this cause i dont want to get a huge pile of parts going, and keep it neater then when i redid the tahiti
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0207.jpg&hash=9e7b4ac06836aa578e64bd1d2f22abf1344d0696)

Here is a couple shots of the bottom! Looks good to me
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0213.jpg&hash=98aea1537a22ead247a1b1f9bf2a56eb0deffca9)

Here lays yet another question? Pat did a good job relaying up the pod after he shortened it, but the paint is already starting to look different then the rest of the boat, i am thinking of having it resprayed...is it easy to match black, or should i make a design and utilize red orange and yellow, as you all know i am anal on appearance!
(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi483.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Frr196%2F1980Nordic%2FSouthwind%2520Tunnel%2FDSCN0218.jpg&hash=f3a27d1af75cfb33a0369474cfd0e8c5e907f303)

And this is the inside of the boat completely stripped and cleaned, man she looks good...all in all im excited about my new project

In that boat you dont have a choice...same as the sanger hydro I had...you gotta go through the hull...fact of the matter is, is I like the place handle

i think its nice there. out of the way. its not like you mess with it every 5 seconds. and its not on the stringer where u can bang your leg/foot/ankle on it.

I've seen it, it is in a cool location. the only thing I would do different if I was starting fresh (and the holes weren't already there) I would make an angle bracket bolt it threw the side of the tunnel as apposed to threw the bottom. That way if it was not perfectly sealed, it wont get water between the glass and the balsa.
-
every nut and bolt will be removed, and sealed with 5200!

5200 is the money. some dripped onto the floor when i sealed my pump with it and i couldnt get it off. if my pump ever has to come out im gonna cut it out and install a dominator.
did you figure out how you're gonna fix all those holes in the dash?
-
 Thats gonna be a nice little runner!
Can't wait to see it on the water (lined up with me at some point...lol)!!!
Good luck bro. :)

yeah, first of all behind the dash needs new wood...because simply there is no wood behind there left...so the 2 holes that were originally filled will have to be drilled out, then the new wood behind the dash and then all hole's but the helm will be filled so i can start with a clean slate...
