Title: Nordie Goes V-Drive
Post by: Nordie on January 08, 2010, 07:23:28 PM
Well guys after a basic "barnyard" discovery......i asked hey can i go look at that boat....he said sure....you can probably pick that thing up it has been sitting there forever....so i went and looked at it....asked him how much, and he said it belongs to a friend...after some phone calls a deal has been reached, and this is what i got....i meet the owner "next" friday for the transaction and all parts that he has for it

here you guys go....what ya think?

Cool find, love the colors.   Lose the "windscreen" (although it looks like it will come off on the first hi speed pass).   That's gonna be fun!

Congrats Nordie.......well, now wait......the Nordic is for sale.......so you can't be Nordie anymore!

Batman can't be Batman without the mask? Superman can't be Superman without the Cape? Anyone named Jared can't be a Jared without a Subway sammich stuffed in their mug, And Nordie can't be Nordie without a Nordic right?

Soooooooo.......Since you're becoming the resident SCJB Drag Queen, I think Brad needs to "adjust" your s/n!

Truck has a dr's appointment tomorrow morning should know by the end of the day should be fixed by Saturday....honestly this time its my fault! I know that for a fact I think it is something simple...a line under the valve cover is leaking and I'm going to have the shop use a tech 2 to determine which cylinder then I will fix it....I might half to pull everything down again

i love this new shop i am using i cant believe this guys honesty....i call him and tell him that i want a diagnostic on my truck...then i proceed to tell him the situation, and i quote "josh i dont think a diagnostic on your truck is going to determine anything i could charge you the 110 bucks and nothing will get resolved...let me put you on the phone with my duramax tech" so the duramax tech told me what to do, and how to handle it, and call if i need anything....how on earth can you ever get honest service like that? i know i jacked my thread, but the boat and truck go hand n hand

So i got the boat over to terrys house tonight, and he is going to mess with it tomorrow i gotta work on my truck, and get that all done! got some really really good news! the mystery box had a really good thing in it! it has the outboard steering in it, and the bastard is chromed! also has everything to complete the steering....also in the box was the drive line...the coupler, the shaft seal, and some casale gears....cant wait to tear into this thing, and figure out what i am going to do!

I didn't notice it before, Nordie, but obviously that thing was not bought/built for racing nor appears it ever was?

I just realized no numbers, not a million stickers and having the saddle tanks........duh! Even greater find!

Post by: Nordie on February 05, 2010, 09:43:53 PM
funny you mention that, because in terry's there was about 3 paint jobs on the boat, but we will never know the history now, because all of the pain came off in one shot....it's in a big old ball of goop now....at some point the motor was moved in 7 inches....why it was moved that far forward no one knows....when the boat gets rerigged it will be put back into the stock location
Title: Re: Nordie Goes V-Drive
Post by: IRRebel on February 05, 2010, 10:58:48 PM
Did Tdawg notice any stickers or residue?  It just hit me seeing those pics awhile ago.

IF that thing was ever raced, there'd be no saddle tanks, I would assume, let alone the fills for them for as many paint jobs as it's had. As far as the engine placement, someone mighta been trying to get it to handle well for everyday use. (Nothing THAT hull will probably ever do)

Given what it is, I'd bet it hasn't seen a LOT of use, and the 'glass issues on the sponsons were from it's life on the beach! You don't see many Flatbottom Hydro's ever! Let alone one that wasn't a former, beat up race boat!

Now we ALL hate you!  ;)

Any more thoughts on the color you're gonna go with?

I think the orange gel on that hull looks MEAN >:D.

Great job Terry.

basecoat is going to be orange again no doubt about it....paint is still in the planning stages....there is alot to still do to the boat before it all gets there anyway one thing at a time really....i got a visual of colors in my head, and it looks great, but getting it to a complete form cost lots of green...and i gotta finish the tahiti for this boating season anyway

I hear you about one thing at a time.

That orange really caught my attention. Espescially the 2nd pic, the view from the front of the hull.

Good luck with it.

Christ! The thing looks scarey even on the trailer safely locked up in the fence! And that one ain't got a blower on it!

You KNOW Terry ain't gonna let that thing outta his sight without one right?

thanks guys i really like the boat, and am looking forward to a really nice detailed build! then who knows what is going to happen, but for now i really like this thing! yeah it's going to need alot of love, but it's not everyday you come across this kind of boat for the price paid for it....with me recent luck it was definately a blessing!
