Well I fianlly pick up a deal. Found a TX-19 for CHEAP!!! Keep in mind needs a ton of work. Its a 86 Jimmy Johnson with a Dominator pump split bowl. For starters its needs stringer, and a transom. Thats just starters. Wish me luck guys!

Here is a pic of the top. I think theres at least 4 layers of paint. Stuff is chipping away. Started cutting stringers out last night. Im using a Dremel! There has to be a better way?! Any sugestions guys. Picking up some trailer parts today, lights and jack. Wht is it every boat ive bought has never had a trailer jack? Perplexing!!! :o

Use standard ol Douglas Fir for stringers.
Cut the old out with a 4" rotary grinder with a new masonry blade in it, makes quick work.

Got the Jack and lights on this evening. Now its legal to get back to Kansas. I felt like a columbian drug runner getting it from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. I just knew i was going to get a ticket! Picked up a angle grinder and some masonary cutting wheels today for $20 bucks. Gota love Harbor Freight!!! I hope this makes quicker work taking the stringers out. If all goes as planed and my jet boat buddies show up this weekend im hoping to have pump out, transom put in and stringers in.

Got the old transom out and new one in this weekend. On to stringers next weekend. This wasnt that fun. :banghead: But with my Dremel and a angle grinder and 36 grit flap disk it made quick, well quiker work of the removal. I used some NAPA resin on the right side which im now regreting. LOOK like poo, but still functions and you wont see it if i choose to put carpet in.
I have some concerns about the pump. Theres no slop but when i turn the pump shafts it sounds like its rubbing. There was a bunch of critter debri in there so im hoping it just needs a good cleaning!!!! What do you guys think?

Well i just dropped some major coin to Tom on some parts!!!! That guy is so cool. Money well spent if you ask me, not my ole lady! I picked up some gauges, water dumps, cable set, steering bessels, feul fills, ignition switch, steering hub and a PLACE diverter!!! All ill be lacking is bolts, hoses and wiring to get this thing on the water by Memorial day. Cal me crazy but it will happen. My TX buddies are willing to help. Theres a total of 6 ppl in my town that have a TX. the towns only 8000 population. Its a jet boat community for sure! Ill have plenty of pics for you all coming soon......

Well i have made a little progress in the past two weeks. I had the pump sandblasted and got the first couple coats of appliance paint on. I got the stringers glassed in, and the first coat of primer on. I have a little bit of pin hole detail work to do before palcing the second coat. My buddie helped me out with the paint job. Looks alot better being one color. Hope to have the tanks, pump, seat plates, and second coat on this weekend. Im being opitmistic. I cant wait to see white face guages in it. I picked a tilt rack this weekend with some horse trading for a extra cable i had laying around. My motor should be done this weekend i was promised, but ive heard that before. I stoped by to get a few pics. It lookng alot better than when what it did defore. Im leaving the boat primer for the summer just to get it in water with paint to come this fall. Wish i could have picked this up this winter would have had more time.

Guys i need some help. I tried last weekend to get the old nozzle pins out from the bowl piece. I completely removed the retaining screws so i know those werent holding it up. Those things will not come out! :mad: I got them to move but not enough to remove the nozzle. I dont want to break the dam thing so i didnt get to agressive. Whats the easiest way to remove them so i can get my diverter on there. Do i need a press or ????

I know there's a thread that was started by brad a month or two ago floating around here with a bunch of recommendations on ways to get em out. Can't remember how he did it but if you search his name on the forum and look at his topics you'll find it

i hope those stringers werent glassed in with the boat sitting on the trailer. you couldve just glassed in a nasty hook into the bottom of your boat. everywhere ive read says to support the boat on the corners of the transom and by the bow, otherwise once you remove the stringers the hull will flex to the shape of the trailer then you glass in the stringer and you just locked in whatever shape it flexxed to.
hopefully that didnt happen! we'll see when the mph comes out!

I didnt. I lifted the back of the boat off the trailer and supported it. I did leave the front on the front bunks at the very front though. I only replaced about 1/2 the old stringers. The front was in good shape and fiber bonded still. I know i should have repalced the whole thing but figured why mess with whats good. I have heard that about the stringers and this is why i lifted the ass end. I also figured the front stringers would hold the original shape since the glass was still good. ??? I geuss ill see in a couple weeeks!!!!! A jig would have been nice but who has that kind of time!!!!!! lol

ahhh sweet. good deal. =) what type of joint did you use where they meet?

There is about a 3/4 by 3/4 notch at the bottom where they meet and placed some extra layers. Where they meet is right where the front bucket wood will be. So there will be even more glass in that area. I was wanting to make a half and half L where they meet about 3'' but after talking with the buddys we deicided it would be suffecient support.

I have gunnel supports already cut out and ready to go back in. I have a lil bit of cut work to do. The gas tanks have straight tads i have to cut out for. I figure im going to set tanks, glass over the tabs and then set gunel supports and glass them in. It has a decent bulkhead in it i figue will last a couple more years. i will prolly go ahead and put some resin over the entire bulkhead to extend its life.

I see a bunch of boats wth Rhino line in the engine bay on here. Is this common and would it look good? Or is it an epoxy paint? Thinking bout this for the TX??????

I didnt get much done this weekend. Ole lady had to go to Wichita and party! Some pics of the tank install. I dont think these tanks came with this boat. They dont line up to the old locations and i had to mocifiy the gunnel supports to acomidate the TABS sticking put of each side. I did write all of my kdios names in black marker on the gunnel supports! Plan on not carpeting those areas. Kinda cool i think. Somthing for them to brag about out on the lake! I plan on glassing them in tomorrow evening. I had to haul it out of town with me cuase im working on the road. If not i would never get this thing on the water.
Hope to get carpet in this week and engine bay Rihno lined, intake painted/sealed.
This weekend i plan on the last coat of primer and motor mounted.

A few update pics... Glassed in a battery location in the rear and spot putty. Looks like a Picaso!!!!
There is some free space behind the tanks i was thinking about putting some spray foam in?! Any suggestions. Just leave it???

Well a little progress. :banghead: i got the pump 90% in. I wanted to use just the T/A instead of the spacer it came with. Unfortunetly its set back to much and will have to be used. :banghead: The thing is ugly and the end that butts up to the transom is about 1/8'' thick just inviting leaks. Future plans will include doing away with all of it and building a plate. I got the guages, ingintion switch and steerig wheel in this pst weekend as well. I picked up my motor friday and started putting it together. I wanted to install it but just ran out of time with wedding and mothers day activities. Broke down monday and purchased a T valve from Tom. The price of those things seam crazy to me. This week i should everythig ready to set the motor in and start putting it togehter. Hope to leak test and fire motor up on sunday.
